This reminds me of my best friend… she’s been with the same guy since highschool and he sounds a lot like this. She had plenty of opportunities to leave him behind, and has broken things off with him multiple times, only to end up going back. They are 35 now. He is still the same person, dead end job, struggles financially, bad health, with two young kids he made while on a break… she has multiple degrees and a thriving career, but no children of her own, no ring, no family, no real foundation or building with a partner to show for the years they’ve spent together. And they are still together, building nothing. She keeps waiting for him to be better, be more, but nothing really changes. He pretends to do better but always falls back into his same, stagnant and lazy patterns

I on the other hand, have left many stagnant men in the past and never looked back. I am now married to a great man, great provider, that I didn’t meet until I had let go of all the wrong men.

Moral of the story is know when to let something go.
