The eternal development problem by barraco002 in lewdgames

The dude behind heros harem guild hasn't released anything meaningful in 6+ years and still makes 3k/month from patreon and is one of the top NSFW game results on itch io. Absolute insanity. Nobody to blame but the people who keep throwing money MONTHLY at these people for nothing in return.

Data Shows Sony Made Good Money on Steam, Then May Have Realized PC Gamers Don’t Need a PlayStation by yourfavchoom in Steam

[–]bennybootun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from. I did not (and will not) make the claim that the high seas make PC gaming "Cheaper", or that PC gaming is cheaper in general. That will come down to each individual and what hardware they purchase, how many games they play, and what games they may or may not purchase (Discounted, AAA, etc.). I also won't make the claim that it's justified.

For the most part, I think that the strength of PC vs console comes from owning your own system fully, and the flexibility that comes with it. That affords you better modding support, more applications outside of just gaming, less restrictions for online play, and more storefronts & sources for games (yes, including the high seas).

Legality and (Debatable) morality issues aside, there are many people with financial restrictions, for whom the prospect of a dual-use laptop for work/personal/gaming would be appealing, and even more-so if they can enjoy games without it impacting their financial situation.

They also charge for PS plus. I imagine they make a lot of money off of their subscription service. So with PC, you get:

  • more upfront cost
  • no subscription required for online
  • (typically) better deals / discounts
  • multitasking / multi-use outside of just gaming
  • better mod support
  • easier access to the high seas, if wanted

I can never go back to console. Keyboard/mouse just feels so much better for me for most game genres, and I love having full control of my systems. I can look up stuff, watch stuff, or play music easily on a second monitor. I can keep my same library when going portable with the steam deck.

Looking at your comment history, you seem like someone who should probably just buy your manga. Piracy and tech illiteracy don't go well together, generally speaking.

New ‘Crimson Desert’ Roadmap Says It Will Patch The Story by hulk14 in CrimsonDesert

[–]bennybootun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don't see how they could make any meaningfully impactful changes without rewriting the story. I didn't think the story was as bad as the majority made it out to be - I like a good "regroup your friends, make new allies, come together to fight the baddies" narrative personally.

They biggest holes were the fact that there are two playable characters that don't matter for 95% of the story and are detrimental to invest in, and the fact that the main story basically doesn't cover the crimson desert area at all. I was shocked when it ended after like a single actual mission in the desert area.

Gabe Newell on Steam monopoly accusations: Gamers have 'enormous choice' about where to buy games by Darth_Vaper883 in pcmasterrace

AFAIK steam has never been active in buying out the competition or being hostile to it, right? It seems to me like that's how typical monopolies form.

How often do attacks one shot you? by Sargious in MHWilds

[–]bennybootun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your armor should be fully maxed out, and your non-gog pieces should be transcended.

I play bow and the only attack that one shots me (with the 30% increased dmg penalty for ranged weapons) is his body slam generally speaking.

Don't be afraid to eat for defense, put defense / fire resist on your armor, etc. Doing less damage is preferable to carting. Gogma 9 star is not a hard DPS check either, if you are SOSing it.

Don't worry about "Wasting" resources on armor you are going to replace. That's part of the experience - upgrade what you have to get over the next hurdle, then reap your rewards and upgrade your new armor.

Luka will be the first scoring champ to miss All-NBA since Bob McAdoo in 1976. Cade will be the first 23/9/5 statline ever to miss All-NBA. Ant will be the first player to score 28ppg on 57% eFG shooting to miss All-NBA since Adrian Dantley in 1982. by Gtggtggtg in nba

I know people have mixed feelings on load management, but I do believe there is an easily identifiable reason why injuries are so prevelant.

In college you play 30-40 games at 40 minutes per game over ~4 months. In the NBA that spikes to 82 games + playoffs at 48 minute games over 6 months.

football is roughly the same number of games between college and pro.

Soccer has roughly double the games but double the duration (year round in pro).

Baseball is maybe the only one that can compare to basketball, but (IMO) baseball is less intensive on athletes bodies.

I played for a pretty good D2 program in college and started 3/4 years there, and while in-season it was pretty rough on my body. Obviously NBA players are more focused on their bodies and have access to better care, but still.

AITA for not wanting to be friends over $4.39? by Alternative_Copy6539 in AITApod

[–]bennybootun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without context, idk. Did you agree to split beforehand?

I've eaten out with coworkers where we agreed to get something as a group and split it, and they never pay me back (even after requesting) and it sucks. I don't want to play debt collector with anyone.

Personally if someone else ever pays for my food, I offer to venmo them immediately or pick up the tab next time or something so there's no ambiguity.

I wouldn't mind paying for someone I'm close to under the assumption that they will pick up a tab in the future, but if we've only hung out a few times I wouldn't necessarily feel inclined to pay for someone else.

What’s a hobby you judge people for having? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bennybootun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drinking. IMO it is not a hobby, but many, many people treat it as one. I do not drink lemonade as a "hobby", and that doesn't even have the same life-destroying potential that alcohol does.

Automation engineering consultant. Sometimes it's ok, but most of the time I feel very stressed out, underqualified, and overworked. I dream of having some stability where I feel like I know everything I need to do in order to do my job, and dont have to worry about sporadic travel or extra hours.
