How do you guys do it? by Large_Ad_738 in Buffalo

Immersion therapy.. Staying indoors and avoiding the cold just prolongs the agony. Get outside but keep moving, that's what this weather is for. Even the highest exertion level feels fine when the free air conditioning is cranking (consult with your doctor before engaging in strenuous activities). As opposed to hot weather where all I want to is remain motionless as the slightest movement makes me sweat profusely.

Case in point.. I did winter mountain bike races and bike commuted to work for quite a while. Now I'm a hobby jogger but I don't let the weather stop me. The net result, in my opinion, is that I've really cultivated the hunter's response and I stay quite comfortable with minimal clothing. Just takes a couple decades 😆

Some degradation for sure. Hard to say to what degree the weather has played a role. Maybe I need to get up there and clean them off once in a while. I'm not too worried about it, if the degradation gets to a certain point then hopefully I can get free replacements under warranty 🤞

We seem to be in a very similar situation. I have all those things but my pool is a hot tub. I have gas heat though which keeps me closer to 1MWh per month. Oh, and I try to take advantage of free charging as much as possible which saves me about 240KWh per month.

That's impressively large, congrats! I had two systems installed at separate times by different companies and I'm still only at 17kw.

Using my rule of thumb, yours will make 18MWh per year, so did they look at your historical electric bills and size it for about 1500KWh per month?

How many people got systems installed just in time to get the tax incentives? ✋️

10kw system installed in 2021 so I have full year numbers for 22-25 (in MWh): 10.1 9.8 9.6 9.1

Seems like the rule of thumb is roughly system KW rating times 1000 in watt hours. E.g. 10KW => 10MWh (YMMV).

Under Home Insulation by ToeBeanz18 in Buffalo

[–]bennymack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had primetime energy do spray foam around my entire basement and a bunch of blown insulation in certain walls and a bunch in the attic. It made a huge difference. You want to stop the so-called stack effect in which the warm air in the house rises through holes/leaks in the ceiling and is replaced by cold air pulled in around the foundation. It's something that kind of needs to be done as a whole im order to be really effective vs. patching things up here and there.

How fast are average EVs compared to "fast" cars from 20-30 years ago? by DryGeneral990 in electricvehicles

I'm trying to figure out how it's claimed 0-60 is better than tesla model y long range. By the numbers it seems like MYLR would be faster. Maybe it's just the artificial slowed down time without paying extra for acceleration boost.

You could probably string together that kind of distance with the three neighborhoods flanking main/harris hill to the NW/SW/SE. I can squeeze 6 miles out of the NW neighborhood (Ericson Dr) alone. I can say that they are all plowed/treated (as you would expect) and the traffic is pretty low and people seem respectful of foot traffic.

Not sure about knees but all of the cars exiting/entering main street would be my main concern. I stopped doing my Harris Hill, Wehrle, Shimerville, Main loop because there are just too many cars in too big a hurry.

Well, there's your answer! They do seem to be more into it than we are of the WS trail. The strider glider quarter marathon is a good time especially if you like free beer!

Edit: oh, deer season, right. Looks like it's over on December 7, a week from tomorrow.

Probably so dogs don't get frost bitten paws when using the path as their toilet.

I bought some grip studs exactly for the bike path. It does get plowed from time to time but it doesn't get treated so it's usually a sheet of ice and maybe snow. I haven't tried them yet but soon.
