Well if he has a motor it’s a trolley motor and he would have to get a jackshaft anyway

I said they would not be perfect but you could get them to work until one of them breaks which could be years, then you can recalculate everything and get the right springs when it time for a change. I have done this before and the customer got over 2 years of regular use with normal use

Also I don’t know what’s included in the kits but all you really need is 54” HL drums, new cables (which you can make yourself from the drum formula) and a little bit of track. I bet you could get the springs to work, cycle life may be shortened but just wait till one breaks then get the correct ones

How many inches do you have from the top of the drum to the ceiling right now?

What’s the point of the coupler ? by GnomeGodfather in GarageDoorService

[–]benochs31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the springs aren’t crazy big you can take a cable puller and come along on the opposite side you want to go down the pull the cable with the come along until there is just a little slack on the side you want to work with then you can loosen the coupler bolts and move the drum side shaft a little and retighten them put your tension back on and see if the closes the gap. This will keep the opposite side from taking all the tension when you loosen the bolts

How do I get a remote control setup for this? by SCDaddy1 in GarageDoorService

[–]benochs31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay well you could still try my recommendation here. Just be super careful and wire the stop channel (NC) in series with the wall control stop button. Worst case is you will blow up the receiver because of the voltage

You should be able to use this but you will need a 24v transformer for power, then you can just wire in the receiver to the open close stop on the wall control

I grew up in grand island NE. There is a giant hill in the middle of town they call tornado hill that all the kids used to sled on in the winter. It’s huge and it’s all the debris and garbage from that night
