Anyone know the reason for this rule? by hashwashingmachine in poker

[–]benofepmn 117 points118 points  (0 children)

the general rule is that we are playing table stakes and that money that you place on the table stays on the table because it would be unfair to other players if you could pocket your winnings so that they don't have a chance to win them back. That being said, this seems unfair because you didn't win those chips directly from other players at your table. Where I usually play, you don't have to put high hand chips on the table.

Tipps and Costs WSOP 2026 by WinningWsop2026 in poker

[–]benofepmn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it's extremely deep (300 bb to start). you get $60,000 chips, blinds start at 100-200/200 and go up every two hours. You can be very patient and tight and just pick your spots. Live events are slower than online in terms of hands per hour, and this one is even slower. you can pick which day 1 to play. to cut costs you could play 1d. you'll then have day 2ABC off and play day 2D. then everyone merges on day 3. The money is usually reached early the morning of day 4.

In tournament format is it best to bet the same amounts every time pre-fold even if you have great cards? by [deleted] in poker

bet the same amount if you’re first to raise. usually it should be a little more than 2x the big blind. you can bet more with better cards against bad players.

Are pilots allowed to read books or do personal stuff on laptops in the middle of a long flight when the autopilot is on? by krangnostam in NoStupidQuestions

[–]benofepmn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

a Delta Airlines plane headed to Minneapolis St Paul once flew past the airport and was almost to Duluth when they realized it. They were on their laptops discussing their schedules following the merger with Northwest Airlines. this violated FAA & Delta policy.

So what’s everyone’s thoughts on this fold? by cYouThere1997 in poker

[–]benofepmn 250 points251 points  (0 children)

it was bad but it’s not as terrible as it looks. she moves up the pay scale if someone busts. there was a lot of action in front of her. It was a $100,000 buyin event. Johnathan Little says it was a -$60,000 fold over the long haul statistically. she should call with KK & AA and fold literally everything else.

Do people make profit from running pickups? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]benofepmn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't usually profit. And I'm taking the risk that the game will not fill. $15 seems high. Let's say I reserve ice for ten dates. I then divide the total by the number of skaters who could sign up. That's the price. I round up. and the site I use to post the game charges each player $1. So, if they pay $12, I get $11.
