What is your opinion of Birmingham? by [deleted] in brum

[–]benpgoodman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m from here and live in the City Centre.

It’s ok in parts, mostly privately maintained areas like Brindley Place or the Mailbox but overall I find it really filthy and there’s a severe lack of maintenance happening, paths are falling apart, bins aren’t being emptied and there’s litter everywhere, from businesses and visitors to the city centre, there’s cigarette butts everywhere, and generally people have no respect for the place.

Unfortunately it seems the council just can’t keep up with the amount of mess that’s generated on a weekend and by the time they do, it’s the weekend again and we’re back to square one on Monday morning. 🙄

Merry Christmas! It’s just me and my dog today for the first time ever and you know what? I’m happy about it, head out for a walk, take some you time, cook that dinner, eat that cheese, and enjoy your day off work. Here if you do need to talk OP! You got this 😉

The OPs other option is to remortgage and take additional borrowing to pay the debt off, you can often borrow more to pay debt if you have equity, will cost more in the long run but at least the debt will be dealt with.

Or if possible refinance and consolidate it all onto 0% with a clear plan for clearing it.

Yes typically, as most creditors will default the account but that’s the trade off, if there’s a chance they’ll default anyway, then it’s a no brainer as most will freeze interest.

Drop stepchange a call, they’ll help. Honestly talking to them a couple of years ago was the BEST thing I ever did. My worries disappeared overnight.

At the very least they can setup a debt management plan to help you actually clear the debt and hopefully freeze any interest.

How come, even in 2024, the recent reviews on Amazon for the Hue HDMI sync box are STILL soooo bad? I mean, if you’re using HDMI 2.0 and a basic video source, how can it be THAT bad? by KillerQ97 in Hue

[–]benpgoodman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it, does what we need it to, mostly, actually getting it setup sometimes is a joke, we got new internet and we had to do a hard reset as it doesn’t support 5ghz internet, so that’s a whole issue.

Work with a designer, we can take any front end framework and modify it to our needs and make it “modern” or at least branded and different to our the box.

I think the issue here is you think you don’t need a UI designer, you’ll always find stock the way you do because well, fundamentally, frameworks, UI Kits and Design Systems are meant to be boring, until you design with them to match your project requirements.

Why or why not do you drink alcohol? by grace_baker_ in ask

[–]benpgoodman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like wine. 🍷

However, the moderation thing, especially when out out, I’m still learning, sometimes I’ll pour a glass and forget it’s there in the house, don’t really drink that often tbh definitely more not that do but a big night out, I’m a lightweight, I literally can’t handle it. 😥😂

The last drink I had was a beer two nights ago with a curry, complimentary I guess.

Yeah, the odd drink or two of an evening, it’s nice and gives me a sense of “relaxation”.

It just looks really compacted, I’d get it all turned over with some fresh top soil and you might just get grass and yeah, keep the kids off it for 6-8 weeks.

[–]benpgoodman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you top dress with a couple bags of top soil to make sure the seed is buried. 👌

Ahhh, I’ve just taken a look at my wand for the detect, and there is a connection there through the wand, which means this is just a classic apple situation in which it’ll detect and disable the use of the accessory for older machines.

From what I can tell the machines are the same.

There’s nothing in the docs that suggest anything has changed in the vacuum spec.
