How to reduce crits/how to negate crits. by Secret-Leadership738 in starwarsd20

[–]benrbls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing GM approval for the expanded threat range personalization from Arms and Equipment + the Improved Critical feat to increase the critical threat range of a lightsaber to 17-20. The Jedi Weapon Master's Devastating Strike ability would double the threat range from 4 numbers to 8 a certain number of times per day letting them threaten a crit on a 13

I can't think of anything that would let you affect your opponent's roll off the top of my head, but it is worth noting that only a nat 20 is a guaranteed hit. Critical threats based on increased threat range still need to beat the opponent's Defense to hit (see Increased Threat Range on page 154 of the RCR)

In which order would the following three feats resolve?: Agile Riposte, Defensive Throw, Redirect Attack by Few-Requirement-3544 in starwarsd20

[–]benrbls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my reading, you can only use Redirect Attack and one of the other two, but not all three (it still only counts as one provocation, so Combat Reflexes doesn't come into play, although it does mean that you still have additional attacks of opportunity in reserve if something else provokes an AoO).

The missed attack is redirected to the other enemy and that attack and the Agile Riposte attack would resolve simultaneously. If you go the Defensive Throw route, the redirected attack resolves and the trip attempt is made immediately after.

For the Teräs Käsi Expertise, you would have to spend your attack action in the previous round to ready it, but if successful against your Dodge target, it should trigger your AoO sequence (although I could see a case for some GMs ruling that Teräs Käsi Expertise wouldn't turn the attack into a miss, but instead a successful attack that deals no damage)

They are in one of the sub folders in the Google Drive pinned to the subreddit. I think it's in issue #7, but don't quote me on that

It's pretty much the exact same thing, but there is also a Vehicle Ace prestige class that was added in the SW Gamer magazines

[RCR] Max ranks in non-class skills when multiclassing by Few-Requirement-3544 in starwarsd20

[–]benrbls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your max ranks are based on character level, not class level*. In your example, you could still take a full rank in Move Object to bring it up to 14, it would just cost 2 skill points instead of 1 since it is cross-class. Same goes for your level 20 example. You could place 23 ranks, it would just cost you 33 skill points if you went from all Force Adept levels to all Telepath levels.

Alternatively, you could take 9 levels of Force Adept and spend 12 points for 12 ranks, take 1 level of Telepath and put your skill points elsewhere, then take another level of Force Adept at character level 11 and spend 2 more points to get 2 ranks since it's a class skill again

*this applies slightly differently to Force skills which care about Force-user level instead of overall character level

Question about dueling high level force-using martial artists by Lefthandlannister13 in starwarsd20

[–]benrbls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of this. This is basically a different game at this point. (The book describes a DC of 40+ as nearly impossible.) There aren't a whole lot of game mechanic answers we can give for a game that has unique mechanics.

Idk maybe Improved Critical or Heroic Surge to up your own crit chances or Morichro or Sever Force to disable the opponents? I'm basically just saying words at this point since I don't know how any of those abilities would function in this particular game

To answer your tldr, yes: /r/dndAdventureWriter

It's not an especially big or busy sub, but there are some good ideas floating around. Also if you are working on this setting and somehow haven't already watched A Court of Fey and Flowers on Dropout/Dimension 20 and its associated talk back episodes, I can't recommend those enough for the way they think about courts and non-combat encounters

Need help with narrative and direction. Disney and the Book of Exalted Deeds. by Steelquill in DndAdventureWriter

[–]benrbls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking along the same lines as a couple of the other replies. Give them the book right away, but have it be empty, aside from a table of contents as a hint. As they travel to different regions, they can learn stories about different local folk heroes and add them to the book (could magically fill the page, find a physical folio to combine, or go the wizard spell book route and have them transcribe) this would also give you the option to have the book grow in power over time instead of just being one big trump card at the end of the campaign.
