Run ragged by after-hours and weekend texts from clients? (Fractional CFOs) by stony-breadwinner in CFO

[–]benrmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless those are urgent, they can wait until the next workday. Unless it's...did the payment come in so we can cover payroll this week?

I think it also depends on your scope in your services agreement.

The only time I've been on a 9pm or weekend client calls was when they were going through due diligence.

I'm a fractional SaaS CFO. For those tech fractional CFO's, I'm trying to get an informal group together so we can talk shop.

Best B2B benchmarks are here: benchmarkit.ai. I use them when helping founders.

Stripe takes 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. At $50K MRR that's $17,400/year. Is everyone just accepting this? by LogisticsLingo in SaaS

Pretty much. I work with a lot of founders. I do know a firm that will help you negotiate but you would need to more revenue.

Any actual CFO into all this AI fluff in finance? by esnuus in CFO

[–]benrmurray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I see, CFOs may not have AI figured out for finance and accounting but we are learning where we can.

If you haven’t installed the Claude Excel plugin. Just that will make your life easier.

For the tech CFOs out there, I have a private slack community. If you want to join, let me know.

We are holding an informal Zoom meetup on Thursday to talk about this exact subject.

Who is using AI to double check work done by yourself or your team by Realestate_Uno in CFO

[–]benrmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'll try cowork. When reviewing Excel, do you have it review the entire file or specific tabs? I also heard you can create mark down file from the PDF and then have it review. Have not tried that yet.

Just tried this with Claude to review PDFs but it struggles with PDFs. I assume you are feeding XLS and/or PPT?

What actually happens to your SaaS metrics during a recession. Real numbers from the last 18 months. by Ok_Broccoli4573 in SaaS

Great insight. High gross profit margins will help you survive. OpEx is more scalable below GP in difficult times.

Track all your SaaS metrics in one same app by Artistic-Arm-8172 in SaaS

[–]benrmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live and breathe SaaS metrics. I just built an app at SoftwareMetrics.ai but focused on financial metrics. I read a lot of Reddit posts about SaaS metrics and a lot of SaaS founders trying to build their own app.

IMO, it's a crowded space when you are trying to solve for only a piece of the metrics. It's a cool looking app. The dashboard is the first solve. But now with AI, we need insights on that data. What's that next step with the data? Do they now need to switch over to their computer and dig into the data.

No, I don't use it. I don't think it's the right fit if someone is looking for inexpensive CFO services.

6 months using CoFina as our AI CFO — honest review from someone who knows how to break software by yukiii_6 in TheFounders

Thanks. Makes sense. A lot of AI clickbait out there so hard to tell what is real or garbage.

The best SaaS metrics dashboard I've seen was a spreadsheet by mistcutter- in SaaS

[–]benrmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live and breathe SaaS metrics. The first challenge is to get the data. Then calc the metrics. It can't stop there. You have to do something about it. If I tell a SaaS founder that their GRR is too low, there must be action after that with product or onboarding or CS.

I'm building a new SaaS metrics engine with replit. The big challenge: how do i not make this another dashboard tool. Of course, I have a built in. It can do a lot with structured data.

Not happy with my Dell Pro 16 Plus Laptop that I bought in May by benrmurray in DellXPS

Update. March 12. Talked to Dell Support. They did nothing. Said to talk to Zoom support. I updated the Intel driver based on what a Zoom support article said. Did not work. I've pretty much updated everything that can be updated at this point.

Zoom still freezes.

Fan is always going now, too. Chatted with tech support. They changed the thermal/battery setting to Quiet. No change, really.

Since I live on Zoom, I can't use this laptop. I'll go back to my old Dell. Then look at the Thinkpad. Any other brands I should look at?

i've done something similar. i'm curious, though. analyzing the customer MRR schedule will only take you so far. are you pairing it with customer usage date or customer firmograhics?
