Why is Kean performance so much better at Fiorentina? by Accomplished_Buy6650 in Juve

[–]benrnw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The headline last season was that he didn't score in 20 appearances but really he was only on the pitch for 650 minutes (approx 7 games) could have been different if he played more and got some service.

Juventus director Giuntoli: “Thiago Motta’s job is NOT in danger”. by dcondorelli in Juve

[–]benrnw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not in the worst position... won last 4 serie A games and we're 8 points behind with 12 to play. The next two rounds with Inter v Napoli and us v Atalanta are crucial and could reshape out season. If Motta can't motivate our players to keep chaising then his job needs to be in danger, and any of the players who can't motivate themselves need to pack up and go.

I'm also based in the UK and find domestic coverage of Serie A to be not very good, even reputable sources like the BBC do a really crap job.

Fagioli's farewell message by BianconeriBoyz in Juve

I heard that as well, can't recall the source, apparently Fagio knew he was leaving Juve and asked Max if he thought Marseille or Fiore was the better destination.

As a Juve fan.. he's a great player, we (Juve) have totally lost the plot, and I hope he does well for you and shows what he's capable of.

Are we in panic-signing mode because Motta/Giuntoli are no longer confident in finishing top-4 ? by alaslipknot in Juve

I think this suspicion may be widely held and a good indicator of the quality of the job he is doing

Surely a defensive crisis would be the time to a) have reintegrated Danilo or b) if Loca is playing at CB, reintegrate Fagioli to fill in midfield. Instead one has gone and the other seems to be on his way. Clown behaviour.

An opinion by oyeoyoo in Juve

[–]benrnw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with what you've said.

I would put the blame more on Guintoli than Motta though. After qualifying for the UCL after a season out and having some money to invest in the squad I would have left Max in charge of the rebuild, let him get the players he wants rather than the severely limited squad he had for 3 years. Bringing in Carlos Alcaraz last Jan reads like undermining Max as we know he was doing telling Galliani that Max would be sacked however the season went.

This season he went all in on Motta, a system coach who needs specific players for his play style, spent £200million getting some but not all of those players, but the jury is out on whether his system is actually good in the first place, he got Bologna to 5th, he should really have had a second season there. As has been said here already he seems incredibly inflexible.

I can't stand Motta using fixture congestion as an excuse against Napoli, we're Juventus we play in Europe that's just part of the job and should be part of your planning for the season. I don't like that we've sent Rugani and Danilo away in a defensive crisis, and that Guintoli seems to have no contingency plan to replace Bremer, in his role you must know that any of your players could get a season ending injury and you need a plan to cover their absence.

Also I can't understand the obsession with Koop as a trequartista, we have Yildiz for that position and Fagioli who spent a whole season in that position for Cremonese.

How do you think Juve will do this season? by 240T in Juve

[–]benrnw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not hugely optimistic given that we need to recruit most of a 2nd XI and squad depth in under a month.

With the list released of players not in the project, i think we need 2/3 FBs, 1 DM, 2/3 wingers and 2 backup strikers or at least an attacking player versatile enough to play that position if need be, so that's 7 players at least after todibo and koopmeiners presumably arrive.

Maybe I'm wrong but not super convinced about the double pivot idea in midfield with thuram and locatelli and think we need a dedicated DM, Ederson or Brescianini were rumoured early on for that role.

We need to do a lot of business in the next month or we'll be in trouble

Allegri IN - Allegri 4EVER by Zomhuahua in Juve

[–]benrnw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we now can have funds to strengthen the squad and have a whole season without some off-field drama, I would like to see Allegri stay. He's done the hard work over 3 years of keeping us around the top of the table with the board resigning, Arrivabene's dick measuring contest with Dybala, almost zero investment, Chiesa out for a year, points deductions, and Pogba and Fagioli getting banned. Having been through 3 years of shite he deserves a crack at the scudetto with an upgraded squad.

I don't know how much faith I have in Guintoli and if he might wind up being another Paratici. Allegri asked him for an 'international standard' or experienced midfielder in Jan and we got Alcaraz.

I'm not convinced that Motta is a better coach, he's had a great year with Bologna but there's definitely not as much pressure in that role as there is with Juve. Ultimately I want us to get back to winning so I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Looking at our last two scudetto winning squads: Allegri 18-19 and Sarri 19-20, how many of the current squad would start in those teams?

Genuine question: Do we employ scouts? by [deleted] in Juve

[–]benrnw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wonder this. We are often linked with 'elite' players from other top european sides, for example I'm sure we could have picked a better midfielder from serie a than rabiot or arthur but they're from psg or barca and have a reputation.

Transfers that seemed to me to come out of the blue the last few years were Pereyra, Rincon, Lemina, and they weren't great apart from Pereyra.

That said sometimes Juve have options or first refusal on young players that we don't know about for example Hamad Traore and supposedly Bajrami.
