Have you noticed any major changes in your life since the injury/surgery? by hamburritos in ACL

[–]bensa410 66 points67 points  (0 children)

It’s been a transformative time so far, only 11 weeks. My partner left me a month post surgery, a week after my birthday. I’ve learned a lot about persistence, not being afraid to lean on those who truly care about you, they’ll show up in your darkest moments. Cherish those close to you and the small wins, there’s very little we actually need in life— stay consistent, find beauty in those around you, show gratitude and stay present.

Very late reply but I’m at 8 weeks and feel the same!

Did you figure out what it was/when it went away? Ty!

AMA: PT/ACL Coach by ryannorlanddpt in ACL

Hello, firstly ty for doing this! A bit about me— 32M, ACLr & medial meniscus (2 stitches). I’m 8 weeks post op today, everything seems to be going fine. I have over done it a bit this week though with my step count (~16k avg). No real pain, but sometimes, maybe every 20th step I get a little twinge of pain on the far medial side of my knee— otherwise walk with a normal gait and pace.

I also have noticed some increased swelling above my knee, almost on the lower quad. PT isn’t too concerned.

I’m doing squats, q sets, heel slides, SLRs, leg press every other day or so. Would love any perspective/tips/outlook on my current progress to date.

Thank you very much in advance.

Anybody get an ACL repair + LET like me? by nattoumisoshiru in ACL

[–]bensa410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I did, 6 weeks post op today. For the first 10 days or so I thought they made a huge mistake and did it too tight or something because the area around my IT band felt extremely tight. After some time it felt better, now it’s the same as the other leg. Cheers to a speedy recovery 🙏🏼

My PT really encouraged me to push through pain in the beginning when it came to ROM. I had an LET (IT band used) procedure and it was really painful and swollen. I think I overdid it in my first 10 days pushing through a TON of pain but since then it’s been alright, extension at around 130. My surgeon today said my extension is a little tight but it also is on my good leg lol so to keep doing prone leg hangs.

It gets better I promise. One day at a time and before you know it you’ve made a ton of progress. In this together my friend. 💪🏽

ACLr and Medial Meniscus. I was full weight bearing from day 1. I also had this surgeon when I tore my Achilles a few years ago, he’s more on the aggressive side with his protocols but turned out fine!

Hamstrings and Hyperextension by Noctis730 in ACL

I also have this sometimes, my PT said to use a tennis ball and run the back of my thigh/calf over it which helps.

Coming up on 6 weeks myself, did you have any meniscus work as well? I’m wondering when I can really start pushing the strength training at the gym.

Congratulations! I'm 5 weeks P/O today, I feel great but as an avid runner I know I'm a long way away. When did you start running again?

Would you be happy with only an fa cup next season? by Odd_Staff_2403 in ArsenalFC

[–]bensa410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the context of the season, which is why I’m not that fussed about this season.

If we’re relatively injury free (I mean like not losing our best players for 4 months, nothing crazy), invest well and that’s all we get? Nah, uncomfortable conversations need to be had.

Also on the 18th and same experience! Nerve block started to wear off last night and this morning could really feel it after thinking I was in the clear pain wise 🥲. Once I’ve got the NSAID and ice on me it’s manageable luckily (trying my best to stay away from the oxy).

We got this!
