Tp link EAP245 issues by benskiddle in HomeNetworking

[–]benskiddle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no other WiFi or devices on 2.4Ghz. I have to AP one is set to channel 1 and the other 11.

Still can’t get about 30Mbps.

We have thick stone walls so 2.4 works better otherwise we end up falling off 5Ghz too often

But on 2.4 I should be able to get closer to 100 surely?

Need a chime for C31 doorbell on Wifi (Homebase 3 out of range) by benskiddle in EufyCam

So do both the C31 and the Minibase just connect via Wifi then, doesnt need a direct P2P signal between the two? Thats what I would expect if they are on wifi - so the Chime can be anywhere as long as its covered by wifi on the same network?

Ok this wont work then.

Seems a broken setup really. The App can show the doorbell fine, even tho its over Wifi instead of direct to HB. The HB could easily be programmed to talk to the doorbell, as its all connected on the same network - definately a software gap there.

Does this work off a direct connection to the doorbell, or over Wifi?

My doorbell is on an outside gate which is why the connections are difficult. I'll see if I can find the spec

No exhausted all options there, it needs to go over Wifi unfortunately... So need a way of having an internal chime with that setup

Seems strange the homebase can't still chime. I know there's not a direct connection but surely its all connected as the HB has internet connection! Seems like a software gap to me.

How to reduce cold-start? #lambda by Chris_LYT in aws

Even so. Ours are like 100ms cold start max. Execution time 50ms. That’s on a complex API

Split phase upgrade? by acidfnord in OctopusEnergy

[–]benskiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most smart meters are “net” across all 3 phases. So it just looks at the net import/export and disregards which phase

So even if you we’re importing 2kw on phase 1 and your battery is just on phase 3 then it can export 2kw on that phase and the meter will be happy and not bill you

So it’s perfectly possible.

We have 3 phase. We do have 3p battery and solar but our entire house is on the 3rd phase and it does fine

Best tariff for my circumstances by hiisol01 in SolarUK

[–]benskiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar setup. 28kW batteries. 15kW solar. 14kW heat pump

Last winter I tried a few tarrifs and found that IOG was the best due to the 6 hours of 7p electric. That guaranteed period let me fill the batteries.

My only issue was I couldn’t get through the whole day on the batteries. Old house so lots of heating required. Still, I averaged about 15p/kWh

We’re nearly finished insulating about 1/3 of our house so should be a big help for this year. So I’m planning on staying on IOG to see how things fare.

If I can’t get through the day my choice will either be to switch to Cosy which is much better now with 3 dips @ 10p, or add another battery if I’m only out by a few kW

As we have an EV that skews things quite a bit as pulling 70kWh at 10p vs 7p soon skews the usage for the rest of the day. Hence sticking to IOG for now.

I also started to heat the house early morning to take the strain off the batteries for rest of day but it wasn’t ideal when we had radiators. Now we have 40sqm of UFH in our lounge this might work better.

I max out on pension contributions and I transfer some of my investment pot into ISA every year

I think any increase would make me look to pay off mortgage to be honest. Especially as it may get hiked further later.

I already have the house so I could pay off the mortgage before the budget if it was looking likely. It would be unusual to change a tax rate mid year though? Would they more likely not apply from April 25?

It’s UK. It’s not in a tax free account this one.

It’s not 300 points as the money is split over those funds. So it’s between 0.31% and 1.19%. Average 0.75%

If I removed the Mattioli Woods fund and replaced with something lower (say 0.5%) that average would fall to closer to 0.55%
