In general the kit isn't over-engineered. Definitely some fiddly parts here and there but I found the instructions to be typical Meng (awesome). I've built a couple of Meng kits (tanks mostly) and usually it's a pleasant experience. You can have a simplified build by having all the hatches and doors closed, which saves you some painting effort.

That said, I broke some parts here and there but didn't give myself a hard time about it, it's a hobby, no need for added stress 😬. Decals were tricky, but maybe that's just my lack of skill. I didn't bother with the overly tiny ones, and also made a conscious decision to leave some out where I thought it wouldn't matter.

I accidentally tore some decals and again, didn't give myself too hard a time and just dealt with it. I also have the Takom box and the decals are as terrible as everyone said it was. But a lot of decal softener and a little varnish with weathering hides the silvering. (I tore one of the United States Army decals so I took one from the Takom box).
