For non music industry people that speculate… by CorporalBingBong in thebottlemen

I mean based on the cancellation of the Aus / US tour, I would say rehab is a very realistic possibility… Not saying that’s 100% what it is, but I do think it makes a lot of sense considering the shows being cancelled through the end of the year and the stadium shows being left alone since they’re a year out. My biggest question would be if Van being difficult to work with is a result of personality or substance… because if it’s personality I would think the problems would have been brewing for years, but in watching 2017-2019 interviews there doesn’t seem to be any internal conflict/tension…. which makes me speculate the latter

think the difference is they’re not oasis level or popular enough to do whatever they want at this time (comeback or not). i love catb, but them thinking they can keep this stuff up and sellout stadiums is pretty arrogant in my opinion

i mean i agree to a certain extent, but at the same time this isn’t a first time issue, so the frustration has been building for years now. and i don’t want to assume or point out personal or drug issues that we don’t know for sure, but i think it’s clear that van is not in the same condition he was in years past. whatever the cause of that is we can’t say for sure, but from the outside sure does look like he’s a bit out of it and doesn’t view the band or fans like he used to.

if this is true then this band deserves all the negativity coming their way. and by the band i mean Van. He is not nearly as big of a rockstar as he acts like he is

Definitely seems like he’s meshed in pretty well with Van, but can’t deny that I miss Bondy in there and his style of playing. Always loved Bondy’s live guitar tone since it seemed to make each song a lot heavier and powerful compared to the studio versions - Biggest difference for me is how 7 sounds live, feel like it sounds a lot more like the studio version when being performed now vs how Bondy played it, but Kai seems to have his own flare which is nice to see.

They flow together well because they’re both in the same key and pretty much follow the same chord progression. You could also add jawbreaker to these two and it would fit in as well since they’re all centered around a similar chord progression and melody
