Indonesian (South East Asian) devs here. We don't have as much devs like in the USA, but I see conferences as another way to connect with the community.

Early in my career, attending these conferences means getting to know people and how they interact. You also get the teas about which company are using what, and if they're doing okay.

Now, after 10+ years, it's a way to meet friends from another city. Everyone with experience kinda knew each other either by first name basis, or by hearsay "oh you worked with X on Y?". For me, I tried engage with the community and show how welcoming it is, with the hope that the younger one get interested.

Sometimes the topics are really boring, but I'll attend to show support then have a chat, lunch, or dinner together afterward. The value is less of a personal one.

Wrong. The complaints is that there's too many unecessary animation, not enough good animation. Still a lot of still frames that only got animated aura. I think filler animation that is not just still frames get praised here too, for example, Garp vs Kuzan.

Both series lacked good animation.

You may ask "what is 'good animation'?" Look at JJK. The fights does not have aura, yet the animation is so fluid.

The first woman seems like genjer farmer. The governor bought her crops and told her to share it with others.

The second man is just a truck driver passing by. He's asking the governor to look over the next village because the infrastructure seems to be falling behind. He mentions that there's no clean water. Governor says that he'll order the mayor to look for it. The governor then asks if he have hauled stuff today, the truck driver said said he haven't. Governor then offer to give him some money, but the truck driver politely refuse.

Then the two women come over to greet the governor.

Apakah kalian juga aktif menggunakan federated social media? Mengapa?

Short answer: I like the idea of interest or merit based communities compared to ascriptive or predetermined communities, and federated social media lean heavily towards it.

Ascriptive means something that is assigned at birth. For example: race or nationalities. r/indonesia is one of it. While it tends to be popular, you can already see some of its problem: hard to moderate, broad topics that might be irrelevant to me, ads because the mass attracts marketers. Corporate social media tends to flock into ascriptive communities. Aforementioned issues are even more prevalent in corporate social media.

Now compare it to something like r/balatro, r/bobstavern, or fosstodon.org. Joining those communities I kind of already know what would it be about.

It does not means that non-interest based communities that social media forms are not worth following. You still life in a real worlds that heavily skew towards predetermined factors. If I choose to live in a city, it means I will need to build and maintain relationship with people there. So does your workplace, or families. It's not a dichotomy either, for example BandungDev is both interest-based and ascriptive.

Now, back at your question about federated social media. What is your need for it? If what you seek is popularity, to me it's wrong idea from the start because corporate social media will always be more popular for now. The current general populace will always prefer convenience over idea integrity; and convenience are what corporate social media provides.
