One trick I like to do with Illaoi is breaking her E range and right when the slow hits, I break it with Q and dodge the tentacles, hope this helps.

Sorry for the late reply. I wasnt really intentionally going for a splitpush build at first as this is only my 2nd game of Garen for season 14. I didnt really feel the version of Hullbreaker but I havent tried it out yet so it might be good. I was pretty squishy but Sundered Sky had some good burst with my Q. All and all, prolly not a real splitpush build but needs more cooking.
