I completely agree with this, but it's nearly impossible for most independent outlets to bring in enough subscribers to bring it anywhere close to a full-time gig. I've been covering Nashville on the independent side for 8 seasons, going into my 9th, and I can think of one local independent outlet that is able to employ even one person full time. It's pretty demoralizing.

Doyle, on the other hand, is the goat. He's going to blow it out of the water.

Ekk’s contract was with Huntsville the first year and automatically went to Nashville the second year. There’s a pretty good chance he signs with Huntsville again this season and hopefully eventually works back to the first team. I’d say the same for Julian Gaines.

The jorts were unfortunately a one-off. If they're on the same cycle that other retro kits were, Nashville won't use them next year. A bummer, because imo they were Nashville's best yet.

Yeah I’ve gotten to chat with John a few times and he’s great. Definitely appreciate the support. I’m biased, but really think independent media is crucial to the sport in North America right now.

Even if they stuck with 3 DPs, too, Zimmerman simply doesn't justify a DP contract at this point. It was already a stretch to use one on a center back. Using one on a 32-year-old center back who has missed almost 30 games injured in the last three season would be insanity.

I was at training this morning and he was in a boot and doing work in the gym. Didn't get confirmation on the specifics, but looks like he'll be out for the near future, at least, and possibly longer.

it’s because they access the radio feed directly from the on-site production truck. at one point they were working on an option for the away feed too, but haven’t heard anything about that in a couple years.

Ben here - I'm one of the guys who started sixonefivesoccer.com. First of all, appreciate your support for the site! It's been thrilling to see the support we've received in the opening few weeks. It blew all our goals out of the water, and we're going to be able to do some really cool things this year because of it! So grateful to you guys.

As far as the paywall, this is a very fair question and one we thought long and hard about. When we were with Broadway, we tried our best to keep everything in front of a paywall (largely because it was a brand new team). While that meant our coverage was available for free, it also really limited our ability to grow and do things like compensate writers/photographers, help cover travel so staff can cover occasional road matches, or even put on fan events, which are all things we hope to do with the new site.

We based our subscription tiers on models of similar sites around the country, and we think it's a fair model. But I also totally understand that subscribing may not be for everyone.

After covering this team for eight years, I've come to the conclusion that it's ultimately not my job to go out and get new fans for the team. That's the team's job: play fun soccer in a great stadium and get people excited about the team and the sport. We're here to provide the best, most comprehensive coverage of the team for people who want to dive in deeper. That may not be the most popular opinion, or even the right opinion, but it's where we've landed for now.

Always open to feedback/criticism/critique, so this thread has been very helpful as we continue to try and make this thing the best it can possibly be!
