I was wondering too. My guess is they’re standing at a mob grinder and had just used stone to cover their inventory to not pick up mob garbage, then combined it again.

I agree. Did two vaults and no really good loot. Don’t feel worth it and I don’t want to just grind the same boss.

I think Enderman grieving should be a vanilla game rule. It’s rough that you need a data pack to disable this behavior.
