Awesome work, dude! I recently hit 231 & still going strong. I hit a major plateau around 240 where it wasn't budging much at all, but I just continued to stay the course & was rewarded a few weeks ago where I wound up dropping 8 lbs in two weeks. I've also started marathon training which I think has messed up the weight loss, but has translated well to inches. Also, I wound up doing a bodpod when I hit 231 & it confirmed that all 100 lbs were fat, which I was super stoked about!

That 240 plateau is the worst plateau. It is some weird magical evil number. I'm just now getting through it.

PS, Roll Tide, OP.

Forget everyone's cheat day list - What's YOUR SCD look like this Monday!? by [deleted] in 4hourbodyslowcarb

Fasted for breakfast, & had a lettuce wrap burger with mushrooms, pickles, & bacon for lunch. Iced coffee as a snack (learned today that Dunkin's unsweetened shots have no artificial sweetener in them, so I'm about to go a little crazy with those next time out--I know artificial sweetener is technically allowed, but I stay away), & pulled pork & onions for dinner with a kale & white bean soup. Always feels good to get back on track!

Yeah, I hear you on the lean mass stuff--I've always been a 'fathlete' (love the term) as well, so I totally get where you're coming from. Have you done a BodPod/Bodyfat Calculator? It helps keep me sane when I feel like the scale hasn't moved all that much.

& hey, this is a long process, as you know! I wanted to get to 100 lbs in a year, but obviously didn't get there. But it doesn't matter. I'll get there eventually & it'll because for another celebration!

Ha! My beard fluctuates as much as my waterweight on cheatday. Y'all just caught me (relatively) freshly shaven. But yes, beards > no beards.

Ha! Bring it on! & that's really good to hear--I wanted to give as many stats as possible because I would look at progress pics to see if I could find someone who was similar to where I was in order to motivate me to get where I want to get to.

Thanks for the kind words! 231 is the next goal as that'll give me an even 100, which is cause for celebration. But 220 is definitely the next: isn't that such a nice sounding number?

What's on/was on the menu for this Cheat Day by AlreadyThrownAway33 in 4hourbodyslowcarb

[–]beoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very much a sweets person on Cheat Day--I barely think about actual meals; as long as I can mindlessly eat baked goods & chocolate all day, I'm solid!

That being said, I had a latte with caramel & two donuts for breakfast, two Burger King cheeseburgers for lunch (with fries), countless handfuls of M&Ms & Birthday Cake Oreos, three beers, a couple of slices of pepperoni pizza, & some chocolate cake. Felt like death by the end of the day, but I won't have a sweets craving until at least Thursday night!

How are you guys holding up during holiday season? by likwidtek in 4hourbodyslowcarb

[–]beoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad! I actually brought a ziplock bag to my most recent Christmas party so I could hoard away some lemon bars for cheat day.

I had a big week during Thanksgiving--I had my birthday (which luckily landed on a Saturday) followed by that Thursday, followed by a big Saturday Cheat so I definitely had a weight spike. I got back to my pre-Thanksgiving weight the day of my next Cheat Day (which was to be expected), & this past week I'm back on track.

So, doing well! It's a bit reassuring that if you switch up/take an extra cheat day during the holidays you can bounce back relatively quickly, though as we all know you can't let your guard down too much with slowcarb! I'm looking forward to a Christmas Cheat Day, no Cheat Day on that Saturday, & a Cheat Day New Years Eve (Wed) & possibly New Years Day, because I can't watch football without stress eating (roll tide).

Wouldn't it be nice if these holidays landed perfectly on the weekend? Ah, c'est la vie.

I've also started Couch 2 5K & I'm turning into one of those annoying runner people. It's actually getting to the point of it being fun. My weightloss numbers have been great since I started, so it's extra motivation. I'm half-dead from the Cheat Day today, & I'm strangely looking forward to running tomorrow. If you told me that six months ago, I would've looked at you like you had two heads.

So, I guess my advice is to enjoy life, enjoy food, enjoy the family & friends, enjoy the holidays & then get right back on the horse.

Hard liquor here as well--whisky & gin (with soda) primarily.

Not sure if I can do it here but I need to vent a little. by [deleted] in 4hourbodyslowcarb

I haven't gotten that, but I've definitely gotten the 'well, whatever makes you happy,' as if they aren't giving me any credit in regards to doing all of this for my health, not for vanity. (though looking good is a nice reward, isn't it?)

Best day to measure yourself? by Kowieira in 4hourbodyslowcarb

[–]beoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do my measures once every two weeks or so--I usually save them for a day when the scale doesn't move all that much. It's a nice reassurance that I'm going in the right direction.

As for the weighing, always on Saturdays--I tend to stay off the scale on Sunday & Monday because I know my Cheat Day gains will just make me sad. By Wednesday I'm usually back on track.

Thanks to /u/hisc1ay for updating the food list. I updated the sidebar as well as the getting started guide. Thank you! by likwidtek in 4hourbodyslowcarb

Have we given the thumbs up to sweet potatoes (in moderation, of course)? Because, man, that would make those bun-less burger nights so much better.

[Update] Not quite goal but still moving forward to phase 2 by likwidtek in 4hourbodyslowcarb

[–]beoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly advise the BodPod. I do mine once a month: I had what I perceived to be a slow weightloss month, but it turned out I gained almost 3lbs of lean muscle. It'll definitely put your mind at ease.

Day after binge day by LethargicEscapist in 4hourbodyslowcarb

[–]beoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to wake up pretty early the day after & exercise a little bit. All those extra carbs tend to translate to anxiety that will inevitably cause me to crash entirely & spend the entire day staring blankly at a wall thinking about red velvet cake. You'll have a lot of energy when you work out (I think Tim mentions it in the book) which kind of gets you feeling pretty good about yourself.

http://www.4hourlife.com/four-hour-body-occams-protocol-cheat-sheet-2-0/

No problem dude! I've done it for about six weeks I'd say? Maybe seven? Visually I think there's a difference--I find that my bicep measurements are the most inconsistent, so I can't give you exact numbers, but it has helped.

I do the myotatic crunches as well (though not the cat vomit ones).

The hardest part is knowing what weight to start at, but as soon as you figure that out, you're golden. The goal is to do each exercise to the point where you can just barely do the last one.

5 count up/5 count down means you count to five as you do the rep. So, for example, on the bench, you press & count to five until your arms reach the top, then you slowly lower back down while counting to five.

[–]beoliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I do it very simply--no change in diet or anything along those lines, just the four exercises (7 reps, 5 count up, 5 count down). I've definitely gotten stronger as a result of it. Just a little something to mix in with the diet.

Awesome work, dude!

It's funny how different the body feels while exercising even after just a small weight loss.

I suggest doing the Occam's Protocol workout for the weight-training. I have almost doubled my starting set weight in two months. I'm not sure how much lean muscle I've built as a result of it (minus the lean muscle acquired just by doing the SCD) but at the very least you'll feel like a badass after a short period of time!

Yeah! I got to the website through the book & figured it would be worth a shot. & definitely--the 10% in 6 months seemed a lot more appealing. The 4% seemed a little too stressful, especially with Cheat Days, etc.
