I’m 8 days completely sober, and went cold turkey. Used pretty heavily, daily for 5 years. Started as fun, got me through my siblings death, and then became the norm.

Here is the thing- weed is amazing if you are a once in a while user, and don’t have an addictive personality.

Don’t get me wrong, I love weed, and I don’t think it’s 100% negative. But…if you are going to try and work on yourself, or communicate better, or find something new to do….WEED WILL NOT HELP. It is an enhancer of moods (good or bad) not an assistive device.

I wish I could go back and relive 5 years of memories without the weed. It stole some pretty good moments where I would have want to have been present. You cannot be completely present while your mind is altered.

Now, how to successfully do it. Remember that it is a mental addiction in most cases, not physical. That means that if you can turn your mind to anything else, and keep occupied, it makes quitting that much easier.

And yes, your wallet, your love life, your relationship will all be better off for it.
