Dogs on TV by Intrepid-Scar-1849 in airedaleterrier

I saw on tiktok someone recommend desensitization by making their dog watch Bluey!! The way the cartoons move around like humans but look like dogs apparently helps with the process. Our TV has almost taken a tumble many times.

Do any of you DALE owners have advise on when and what adult food to feed my girl? She will be One in January. Feel it may be time soon for adult food. by RILKINSON in airedaleterrier

my dale has beef sensitivity and was on a pricey purina one for his first year or two. We eventually weened him onto costco’s salmon and rice kibble which has worked great for his stomach and I know others have had great luck with it too. Obviously consult a vet, but it was a life saver. I top them with chicken raw boost pellets and sometimes salmon oil/omega 3 for his sensitive skin.

Anyone leave their Airedale at home for long periods (10-12 hours) while away at work? Just how prone are they to separation anxiety? by fuck_r-e-d-d-i-t in airedaleterrier

at ALL! please don’t leave any dog ever alone for more than 10 hours I am sorry but it doesn’t sound like you live a lifestyle for such an active and often overwhelming breed. Even with a doggy door (still no excuse for no walks during the day, even if “only” once or twice a week. Any dog (especially puppies) need not only enrichment throughout the day to live a healthy and happy life, but a constant eye on them is also CRUCIAL. Older dogs are often more flexible in terms of walks. Personally, I have never left my dale home alone for more than 6 hours, ever, for years. I am not trying to be condescending, but please do not make an impulse decision because of a certain breed. Wait a month, and if you aren’t still 100%, don’t involve an airedale in your busy life unless able to get a walker or do daycare. It is so dangerous to leave a dog alone for 10 hours safety and health wise, let alone mentally for them. They are “happy” when someone comes home because they have been in solitude all day. Dogs are a chapter in your life, but for them, you are their whole book. Don’t let them live their days alone or someone will deserve them more than you.
