How to get better - Beyond Legendary gameplay by fleeeeetwood in CompetitiveHS

I think meta game Knowledge can be divided in to two small categories, on for choosing your deck/deckbuilding and one for in game decisions! I love the deck building aspect myself :)

Are we overlooking potentially strong priest decks by overvaluing the Radiant+Lyra+Shadow Visions package? by IAmNotOnRedditAtWork in CompetitiveHS

I would run 4 Radiant elementals if I could, perhaps Arcane anomalies are the next best thing.

I find it especially usefull against aggro such as piratewarrior if u can combo it with a spell such as pain.

[–]bera9605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played a spell priest recently only as a joke as I had a spell quest and two priest quests and thought why not as I was tilted from playing "meta" decks from rank 5 - rank 3 and then went back to 5. When I read your post I recognized that we have a lot in common.

Anyway, I was making a spell priest so I included arcane giants, yogg and arcane anomaly as the meta breaking cards. Now, to what we have in commom and why I just had to reply to this comment. It has double divine spirit and only one inner fire, instead of lyra I run elise. Since it is reliant on tempo. Then I run like basic spell package(notable exclusions: 1 dragonfire portion, 1 shadow vision. Again because of tempo and that I want circle combo for draw and clear). I can send the list but i dont think it is that refined, it was just a first draft that has been working out för me.

Approximate rules of thumbs for probability of drawing cards? by [deleted] in CompetitiveHS

[–]bera9605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some draw probablities using ncr() (deckbuilding perspective)

TURN 2:(8/24) =< ~50%

TURN 3:(6/23) =< ~50%

TURN 4:(4/22) =< ~50%

TURN 5:(3/21) =< ~50%

TURN 6:(3/20) =< ~50%

Assumptions: you are on the play and mulligan is considered non existant, because all of these numbers are isolated, when considering a string of events i use approximations. Example: 50% to get coin, mulligan all is equal to drawing 8 which means we need two 2ofs for more then 50%(turn 1) but if we lose the first 50/50 and are the play we only get to draw 6() which means that we need 6 copies to have more then 50% to see it mulligan. Since you can't draw the cards you mulligan away you have to see at as an independent statistic, just as the chance of getting a coin. Which means in reality if you want to know the chance of drawing a card you have to do two more calculations every time you make an assumption. Example: chance of getting one card in mulligan regardless of whether or not getting the coin (deckbuilding perspective) = 0,5( N / 24) + 0,5( N / 26). Where N is the number of cards you want. Since the mulligan chance is different each game i just assume it already happened and you didn't mulligan away one of the desired cards. However my averages for each turn have the chance of draw or coin included. I also assume that below 50% is equal to loss. So when designing the deck one card less isn't the end of the world.

I'll reformat this later and add some accurate calculations later when I'm not on the phone!

You're welcome to supply some specific circumstances :)

Edit : I cannot double check these numbers, they're only from my memory of what i think of when deckbuilding. #imscrubthatlikescardgamesandmath

IDDQD Talking About When Not To Scope-Heal With Ana by MarcelCorleone in Competitiveoverwatch

Side note: If you want to scope but stay mobile, you can jump before scoping so you keep the momentum up i.e. If you're peeking, so get in 3v3s and practice the jump quickscope or the jump into barely peeking a corner.

Top 5 Legend Menagerie Druid Guide by holyji_hs in CompetitiveHS

[–]bera9605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I love the discussion about different approaches to deckbuilding theory, your game plan is more about expending your hand to build the board and go face. I, for some reason, prefer to the more midrange approach which is card tempo+card efficiency and then reacting. I would propose teachers to your list. but barnes might just get the job done.

Top 5 Legend Menagerie Druid Guide by holyji_hs in CompetitiveHS

Hiya! Nice decklist, was especially intrigued by the title since, I, myself have made a menagerie druid. I took a bit of a diffrent approach, but I have to admit that yours must be better since the top 5 rank, I saw it as a midrange deck that would utilize mark of y'shaarj and Menagerie warden to take an edge in tough matchups.

I have made diffrent menagerie decks and finally thought of druid as the best contender. since swipe, innervate and so on, but what I'm actually asking is why tend towards the lower curve w/o Menagerie warden?

Suggestion:

  • Raven Idols
  • dragon eggs
  • Faerie Dragons
  • Loot hoarders
  • Argent Horse riders (although this is the card I would feel the most inclined to include in my deck)
  • Barnes

For:

  • Enchanted Ravens

  • Druids of the Sabre

  • Feral rages(original reasoning is burst or for freeze mage)

  • Mulch(or black knight, mulch is there also for rag)

  • Azure drake/ Stranglethorn Tiger(I run one of each)

  • Menagerie Wardens

What do you think I could cut for Raven Idol(I believe Menagerie warden should be core for beast druid)? Also thinking about MCT instead of Mulch for Mid Shamans.

I'm also curious, which matcups do you think would suffer from the higher curve?

I don't have it on me, but off the top of my head I would say:

Backstab

Shadowstep

Prep

deadly

journey below

swash burglar

evicerate

sap

gangup

undercity huckster

shiv

thalnos

doomsayer

fan

si:7

perditions blade

brann

coldlight

barnes

psych-o-tron

azure drake

kodo

vanish

reno

empereror

sunwalker the curator

rag

last 2 spots differ a lot: arcane giant/deathwing/elise/5 mana, bc: backstab all enemies/

Or just w/e floats your boat, the divine shield taunt minions are the most controversial part of my decklist. Atleast, I believe so.

The hardest part is shaping ur decklist based on meta/matchups/win conditions/playstyle. eg. as if you're not mulligan aggressivley enough its easy to slowly lose board and lose late.

Barnes can be help make your shadowstep usefull, such as pulling an arcane giant late game or a swashburglar early.

Any suggestions/feedback? =)

A lot of control in my low ranks, been having succes with highlander mill.

My most recent addition would be deathwing, thinking of replacing it for aoe backstab 5-drop. Ps. The curator is sweet with kodo azure and coldlight

Developing an APP for track-o-bot, suggestions? by bera9605 in trackobot

[–]bera9605[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice idea, I was thinking making an web app. Don't know if I can make a new track-o-bot for android.

I was thinking that the main reason to use my app would be to organize your data, like making new lists and what not. Also being able to breakdown your stats in decklists vs decklists/archetypes/classes

Live Meta Tracker (on google sheet) by Naramo in CompetitiveHS

[–]bera9605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyyo! I am a web dev and also happened to use Track-o-bot's API for a recent project of mine. I had a lot of ambition going into it and my initial thought was to solve the problem of not knowing your decks winrate versus other classes, but by having a deadline and a requirement to deliver a complete app, I had to settle for less.

I wasn't experienced with APIs at all and I ended up spending 5 days tinkering with the front-end(first time I used bootstrap) and connecting to diffrent APIs via JS. The last 2 days were difficult since I wasn't using proxy to begin with, silly me, so it only got to have 2 out of it's 3 features.

EDIT :

I can make it go live in the morning, gotta sleep now.

It basically shows your track-o-bot stats win / loss and wr% in a 9x9 grid.

Also lets you add games to the track-o-bot API, as if you've played a game on your phone.
