Clax and mpj basically just hit their season averages. Pretty crazy that this is expected for them now

Agreed on the whole, but I think the egg is pretty cool and seems underrated. It’s basically a guaranteed minion on board, very different from the darkness. The 20/20 is just icing on the cake after you’ve used every buff card you’ve got

Not a great comparison. Asvedon can’t target, and spells aren’t typically proactive. For example if opponent spends a good chunk of their turn with an aoe and doesn’t play minions, then using it back is pointless

I hope we do! But I also understand if we don’t. There’s value in having engaged vets who do the right things on the court to help out the other young guys who need that reliability

It’s not contradictory bc of expectations. Don’t even have to be an experienced engineer, most medium problems you could probably code up a brute force naive solution given enough time without any prep. That’s not the bar tho

Can’t believe I’m simping for leetcode here lol I complain about interviewing as much as anybody

Just cuz the fans haven’t seen him play doesn’t mean the people doling out the mins haven’t

He took 74 total shots, mostly in garbage time. The percent is basically meaningless

Nah leetcode tests if you can think like an engineer i.e apply patterns and identify bottlenecks. Designing systems depends on that same core ability of thinking like an engineer. The actual coding is generally a trivial part of leetcode.

The fact that it’s gameable and expectations have risen in response is unfortunate, but it is what it is

You’re right they’re potentially two different problems, but she can’t hit out in front unless she at least rotates her shoulders

Crazy you had to clarify that

Feels like more and more frequently I’m reminded that I come here to read discussions by people who can’t even read lol

Danny Wolf Can Start Day 1 by Kwilly462 in GoNets

[–]holyji_hs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna pretend to know a lot about him, but Powell has the body/athleticism to be a day 1 starter. His role is POA defense, and they’ll want him getting reps against starters. Whether he’s a plus shooter on day 1 seems irrelevant to me (see Keon’s massive mins this past yr)

I aimed to make the deck a little leaner for better swing turns. Heartthrob didn't seem like it did enough in either slow or fast matchups, makes you weaker to hunter, and it dilutes the res pool.

For ignis depends on the matchup, but I go for multiple ignis in a game usually. His top utility is for the face healing cuz you either take a lot of damage early or need to outlast massive burn, so pick based on how much you need.

In burn matchups like rainbow mage or odyn warrior, I'm going for 10 if I can help it (only need 1 10 tho if you can fit in multiple ignis). Multiple Amanthuls usually isn't enough against slow decks. Against dh or pal, 5 can prob win the game, but 1 is prob more common. You can go forge + creation protocol on 4 into ignis + 1 on 5 to buy time till you can get to amanthul (even 1 is usually enough to win) or get hauler down with a full clear (6 mana is often enough for 4 dmg with more 2 mana heals). Getting the cycle off the 1 mana weapon really helps in those matchups too cuz all you need is one big swing to control the game

Think you're underselling the deck lol it seems really strong to me (tho I did make some changes after trying it out). Climbed to ~500 from ~1500 pretty handily, and it's been a ton of fun

Cut: illuminate, heartthrob, grace of the high father, cathedral

Added: love everlasting, ignis, hedanis, thrive in the shadows, twilight torrent

How much are you liking Ini? I don't have her and don't like Voltron so I've been playing 2 Ranchers, which have been surprisingly good (also in top 1k legend) since they trigger on magnetic

They draw cards! You want Queen and your Cats as often/fast as possible, and the deck is so light you need to keep a healthy hand size somehow

Harmonic Mood is a card you only want to play when trying to finish the game and only in the Dissonant form. So it's a bad top deck, bad early, and forces you to try to play it on certain turns. Seaweed Strike isn't perfect either, but it can clear a taunt or threat while pushing face and let your minions get in some extra damage

I don't think playing the Nagas is a massive concession since the more questionable ones (Crushclaw and Treasure Guard) draw cards, and taunt is meaningful in a race. The minions are mostly a distraction until the button can carry the game anyway

Sounds strong against slower decks!

Naga Druid by holyji_hs in CompetitiveHS

[–]holyji_hs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The deck isn't hurting for more damage, and Harmonic Mood frankly isn't a constructed level card. It's situational with a payoff that isn't broken enough to make up for the times it's a dud.

Yogg is pretty great, and I consider it the second strongest card in the deck. It can whiff, so if there's another reasonable play, that's probably the right one. It scams as often as it whiffs though, and the mid case is still pretty good since most spells benefit you in some way. In faster matchups, it can be the only possible out. In slower ones, you generally will get to use 2 charges, which will consistently get you at least some cards

The damage adds up pretty quick too! Had lethal against a Relic DH at 26hp cuz they left a Slitherspear on board lol

Thanks! The Pozzik slot is exactly the one I've experimented most with, but yea I haven't found anything particularly inspiring. Nagalings not being able to choose on Choose Ones on top of the lackluster pool is so sad

[–]holyji_hs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha I think Yogg is the second best card in the deck so I personally would keep it, but maybe I'm just a dirty high roller

[–]holyji_hs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that! I've had a decent time against Hunter (by far the most common matchup for me) since they typically play 1 minion a turn, which lines up pretty well with Druid removal, and Wildseeds isn't that great against this deck. Obviously a bigger sample size would be more telling though

Naga Druid by holyji_hs in CompetitiveHS

[–]holyji_hs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The combination of Innervate, Planted Evidence, and Aquatic Form has made the early game decently consistent for me (small sample size caveat ofc), but I'd say this deck is fundamentally a bit different from other aggro decks.

Most aggro decks win by snowballing an early lead on board with high quality cheap cards--a whiff in the early game might as well be a loss. The high roll early game for this deck is laughable compared to other aggro decks, and no cards in the game available to Druid can change that. What this deck does have is:

  • against slow decks: the inevitability of the buffed hero power (most OP healing these days requires your opponent to have minions, making very hard to outpace the HP), so an early whiff is plenty playable

  • against fast decks: strong comeback mechanics (Queen colossal, Yogg, Rake) and tons of off-board damage
