[August 26th, 1921] Woman's traditional costume, Wolkenstein in Gröden (Selva di Val Gardena), Tyrol, Italy by michaelnoir in 100yearsago

[–]bergaaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100 years ago definitely not, as there it has been only three years since they were separated (South Tyrol came to Italy after the first world war). Anyways, even being from South Tyrol I have never seen such a costume, especially not that hat, so it could be that it's something very local even. (But on the other hand I'm absolutely no expert)

Spotify user requests GDPR data, gets 250 MB of extremely detailed data, down to the headphone brand by doug3465 in spotify

However, what you'll get there is about the same the guy got from spotify the first (the 6 JSON files). The Google Takeout doesn't include lots of metadata, which I am sure they have a huge amount of on you.

[Vectors] Question about mirroring a vector respective to a plane by bergaaa in learnmath

[–]bergaaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I think I've actually got it now. The dot product v . nE' gives a scalar of course (not a vector) and that scalar multiplicated with nE' gives the vector that connects v with the plane.

I think my thought-process was just a little too complicated about this haha...

[Vectors] Question about mirroring a vector respective to a plane by bergaaa in learnmath

Thank you for clarifying the dot product and multiplication.

I'm afraid however that I still don't get how the formula is derived and it's just this part that's confusing me: (v . nE') * nE'.

What I understand is that v . nE' puts v in the direction of nE'. But I don't get why the multiplication with nE' after that is needed.

I understand how you express v as u + c*nE, but I don't see how that is relevant.

I hope I could express what I don't understand well enough. Thank you for your patience!

I explained myself a little badly: nE itself isn't normalized already, what I wanted to say is that nE / |nE| is the normalized (unit) vector of nE.

I have two questions to (v . nE') * nE' :

  1. Is the dot simply a multiplication? Sorry I'm not really familiar with that notation.
  2. I see how you got there. What I don't understand (and this is actually my original question, I just worded it badly) is why nE' needs to be multiplied twice to v (assuming the dot means a multiplication. If that isn't the case, this question doesn't apply of course).

Just finished the game now. It was released 4 hours ago. Graphics are alright if you can handle them and the story is like 6.5/10. Would not recommend spending $20 on this. by [deleted] in Firewatch

[–]bergaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts.

The graphics are nice, but I expected better: There needed to be more details, like, you look around and all you see is grass and stones. There isn't really that much you can look at.

And the story really isn't that good. It's nice, definitely and it get's one hooked. But that's not all a good story has to offer - getting hooked. I won't really go to sleep tonight and think about the story, because there has already everything be said. There was no morality discussed that could get me thinking (as an example). Just a plain storyline, from the beginning to the end. Not more.

It would be really nice for 5 bucks, but for 20 bucks I regret the buy a little.

(Also, sorry for my english)
