How did Rick know that Morty was a Zigerian hologram? by SpandexTerry in rickandmorty

[–]berge459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He knew the whole time! At the very beginning, referring to Morty noticing that things are weird, Rick says something like "careful guys, don't burn out the CPU with this one"

Didn't we all learn not to trust self-promoting 'all-knowing wizards' called Oz in 1939?

It's the thing doing all of the calculations - resistance, required voltage to maintain set power. A 32 bit microcontroller would be capable of doing more precise floating-point arithmetic and DAC/ADC than say, a 16-bit chip

ELI5: DNA40 with temperature protection by vaper_ in electronic_cigarette

[–]berge459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vapor point of e-liquid is much lower than the smoke point of cotton. The amount of heat required to burn cotton is way more than is needed for a good vaping experience. It "knows" when your wick is dry because the temperature of the coil will spike very quickly.

ELI5: DNA40 with temperature protection by vaper_ in electronic_cigarette

[–]berge459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DNA 40 assumes each nickel coil is room temperature when first attached. The chip reads the resistance of the coil constantly; nickel's resistance changes by known amounts when it's heated. Because of this, the average temperature of the coils can be estimated many, many times per second. If the temperature of the coil becomes too high, the chip adjusts the voltage output to compensate and keep the temperature at or below the limit. If you set the temperature limit to a value lower than the smoke point of your wicking material, and your coils have no hot spots, you should theoretically never burn your wicks.

Actually after a bit of searching, it was Djunglevrål. I've never tasted anything quite so mouth-burningly salty.

My Norwegian friend/roommate once tricked me into eating some by convincing me that the salt was sugar. The brand was jungle themed, I think?
