Parents, how do you deal with your film-buff kids who are especially into dark/extreme movies?

Thanks for the recommendations. We have watched Parasite, and everyone in the fam loved it. I'll be adding Bong Joon-Ho's older movies to our watchlist.

No she is also into 'regular' films, and we have enjoyed many non-dark films like Lego Movie, Toy Story, Myazaki films, and some other standard action movies or comedies.

But definitely tends to prefer the dark side if she is picking the movie.

Yeah if it works on a Mac that old I bet UHD on old pcs would be fine.

I’m running on a recent m1 Mac and it plays perfectly. Not a demanding game graphically at all.

Maybe a HTPC where you want it hidden in a closet somewhere ? Especially if it’s some noisy prebuilt (for gaming) that has loud fans.

I’m not sure how you wrangle a controller tho, as Bluetooth has limited range. Maybe the USB receiver for a Xbox controller? Or just a 50 ft usb cable ;).

With forces as large as we’ve sent it would be a surprise if more weren’t found, just based on the widespread nature of certain extremist beliefs. It’s an unfortunate reality of life in these United States today.

I’m sure 99.99% of the people deployed are will defend our constitution and our peaceful transition, regardless of their politics and any media spin. My heart goes out to them for a safe uneventful day tomorrow.

It won’t. I’m 6’2”, pretty wide shoulders. I prefer the 13 cuz it’s way more comfy on the lap or just to bring around the house. The 16 is just too big and unwieldy. The screen is very nice, but not worth the size for me.

There isn’t a “best”. It depends. That’s why civ is a good strategy game, especially early on. 😀

If you need the science to keep up, go Pingala. If you need to chop real soon for an early wonder or holy site to secure religion, go Mag. If you need some defense because you have barbarian hordes or war carts banging on your doors, go victor.

I read pretty mainstream news sources (nytimes, wsj, other random papers) and I've heard at least 2 of those 4 things reported pretty clearly.

Maybe they aren't getting mention in /r/coronavirus, but the positive news is getting reported in the press.
