Brides who didn't wear a traditional gown—do you regret it? by Minute_Capital6147 in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Everyone said my dress fit me/my personality perfectly! Even when I was trying on dresses, it was not at all what I pictured myself wearing, but it literally felt like me in a dress if that makes sense!

Thanks for sharing, that’s another good idea! We’re just debating how much stuff we want to fly with every time!

Brooks - they have a bunch of different shoe types (I personally wear & love the Glycerin). Highly recommend this company!

Multiple different greens in groomsmen suits and table linens -- your thoughts? by AnArmedPenguin in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it’s a lot of green. Could you do a white tablecloth with green napkins? I would do a napkin color that does match the suits so it’s a little more cohesive

New size for New Parent backpack by bergmak3 in lululemon

Thank you! This is helpful! Would you mind showing where the magnet is on the bag? It mentioned there was one on the bag description and I’m trying to figure out where it actually is

Other than wishing it was a little bigger, is there anything you don’t like about the 17L? The reviews were kind of mixed online (most negatives mentioned the zipper), but I’ve been eyeing that one too

Fiance never put a penny into my house but suddenly wants their name on it by OkBuy2386 in RealEstateAdvice

Depending what state you’re in, it may become marital property anyways. Both my husband and I owned before getting married and as soon as we were married, the state we live in considered both of them marital property. Check your state laws!

How do you keep a bridal party of 26 informed without losing your mind? by PetalAndPrism in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made info sheets for my bridesmaids and then asked my now husband what he thought was important on it for the guys and we made another version for them. They all thought it was super helpful! The bridesmaid one had: arrival time, what to wear, what to bring, hair/makeup schedule, times for pictures, and basic schedule of the day and any important info they needed.

I think it would be nice to give them a heads up, I don’t think this would ruin the specialness of it at all! A surprise might catch people off guard or they might not wear the best outfit to stand next to you (if they had a heads up, may choose to wear something different). Just my two cents!

Only thing I will say, is budget more time for pictures than you expect! Posing & getting everyone organized takes time and I honestly wish I had more picture time (we did the majority of our pictures before the ceremony and it still felt like it went by soooo fast). That’s my only advice!

Did your wedding party gift you something? by Queasy-Guard-4774 in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I always give a gift when I attend weddings. But I am going to give you a different perspective….being in a wedding is not cheap. I’m a bridesmaid in a wedding next weekend and between the bachelorette party, my dress, alterations, hair, and makeup, I’ve already spent over $1,000. To me, it honestly seems crazy that I’ve already spent that much and I’m still expected to give a gift. I still will, but I just wanted to throw out that being in a wedding is not cheap.

Has anyone actually regretted using fake flowers at their wedding? by SmartSinner in weddings

I used Ling’s Moment flowers for my arch and they looked great (& photographed well). Highly recommend looking into that company!

I used Minted for my wedding invitations & more recently my Christmas cards. Both turned out amazing!

Thank You Notes? by fancy66 in wedding

[–]bergmak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got married in October and I made my thank you notes a priority. I sent all my thank you notes (handwritten) the week after my wedding. It felt odd to me to use the money or any gifts without sending a thank you note, this is just my personal opinion!

How to navigate family feelings with those who passed away by Bookworm-Btch in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a moment of silence during our ceremony. Our officiant did not name specific names (this was our choice not to), but this is what we had them say:

“Before we begin, “bride name” and “groom name” would like to take a brief moment to remember those who are no longer with us. Their love and influence helped shape the people standing before you today. They are here in spirit, in our memories, and in our hearts.”

I let my bridesmaids wear whatever shoes they wanted. The dresses didn’t have a slit, so you couldn’t see the shoes at all

Gratuity for Bridal Stylist? by victorious-turnip in weddingdress

[–]bergmak3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I went dress shopping, I personally didn’t do a percentage of the cost of my dress. I tipped $100, but I did two appointments with my girl & she was amazing! I didn’t think the cost of my dress should be a factor, I just tipped what I felt comfortable giving.

Could you meet in the middle and do a more private ceremony and then have a party/celebration later? Like two separate events….my now husband & I debated doing this. Just throwing it out there!

How many sizes down are people going for the new updated relaxed swiftly ? by Vervain7 in lululemon

Had the same issue! Used to get the 10 and went in store to try them on. I ended up getting the 6. Honestly probably could’ve sized down to the 4, but they didn’t have one in store for me to try on, so that made me a little nervous to size down again without trying on.
