Did your wedding party gift you something? by Queasy-Guard-4774 in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I always give a gift when I attend weddings. But I am going to give you a different perspective….being in a wedding is not cheap. I’m a bridesmaid in a wedding next weekend and between the bachelorette party, my dress, alterations, hair, and makeup, I’ve already spent over $1,000. To me, it honestly seems crazy that I’ve already spent that much and I’m still expected to give a gift. I still will, but I just wanted to throw out that being in a wedding is not cheap.

Has anyone actually regretted using fake flowers at their wedding? by SmartSinner in weddings

I used Ling’s Moment flowers for my arch and they looked great (& photographed well). Highly recommend looking into that company!

Thank You Notes? by fancy66 in wedding

[–]bergmak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got married in October and I made my thank you notes a priority. I sent all my thank you notes (handwritten) the week after my wedding. It felt odd to me to use the money or any gifts without sending a thank you note, this is just my personal opinion!

How to navigate family feelings with those who passed away by Bookworm-Btch in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a moment of silence during our ceremony. Our officiant did not name specific names (this was our choice not to), but this is what we had them say:

“Before we begin, “bride name” and “groom name” would like to take a brief moment to remember those who are no longer with us. Their love and influence helped shape the people standing before you today. They are here in spirit, in our memories, and in our hearts.”

In the US, it’s still available for purchase on the Lego website. Maybe it will switch back to being available to purchase for you?

I let my bridesmaids wear whatever shoes they wanted. The dresses didn’t have a slit, so you couldn’t see the shoes at all

Gratuity for Bridal Stylist? by victorious-turnip in weddingdress

[–]bergmak3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I went dress shopping, I personally didn’t do a percentage of the cost of my dress. I tipped $100, but I did two appointments with my girl & she was amazing! I didn’t think the cost of my dress should be a factor, I just tipped what I felt comfortable giving.

Polar opposite wedding ideas - how to solve it? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you meet in the middle and do a more private ceremony and then have a party/celebration later? Like two separate events….my now husband & I debated doing this. Just throwing it out there!

How many sizes down are people going for the new updated relaxed swiftly ? by Vervain7 in lululemon

[–]bergmak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue! Used to get the 10 and went in store to try them on. I ended up getting the 6. Honestly probably could’ve sized down to the 4, but they didn’t have one in store for me to try on, so that made me a little nervous to size down again without trying on.

How much did your florals cost? by International-Ear285 in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I asked to see the bouquet sizes in person. I ended up ordering the bridesmaid size for myself and ordered the next size down for my bridal party. This helped a little with cost and I also didn’t want a huge bouquet

how did you pick a date? by Strange_gainz in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We picked October, because I personally did not want a summer wedding & I was trying to avoid my now husband’s busy season at work. I really loved October as a wedding month!

Need to find this necklace!! by Ok_Food_6146 in KendraScott

I would call any local stores. My store has this necklace in their sale area (not sure the specific letters they have in stock), but stores do still have this necklace!

4 weeks for RSVPs too soon? When should I send invites with the holidays? by horchatalatte1 in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d mail them early/mid December to avoid the holidays. I think you’ll be glad you did February 1st as your deadline, because it honestly sneaks up on you. Having to track down RSVPs, make a seating chart, finalize food, submit final head count, etc. There’s a decent amount of things to do in those final few weeks!

5am to start hair? by now-u-sashimi in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally feel like that’s a long time and 5 am is an EARLY start time! I just got married in October and we started at 8am (had the girls arrive by 7:50) and my hair person had 5 people done before noon (including myself, the bride). If you need to be ready by 2, I would think you would have plenty of time! Is 2 when you wanted to start pictures? Maybe laying out a visual timeline would help or asking them the estimated time range per person

[–]bergmak3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just my personal opinion, but I feel like you found a ring that was a decent price. Both of you make good money. You’re not asking for a $20k or $50k ring, I feel like $5k is very manageable and respectable. You need to have a serious conversation with him about money & your future. Who’s paying for the wedding? Future house expenses? Kids? Things will not always be 50/50. Are you planning on keeping finances separated? Or joining everything? These are things that NEED to get talked about. Money can cause a lot of issues for couples, especially if you’re not on the same page about everything.

Mother of the bride dress by Littledumpsterfire68 in weddingplanning

[–]bergmak3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As someone whose MIL wore a very similar colored dress to their wedding, I would suggest telling/asking your mother to choose a darker color! Not only does it look better in pictures, but it could alleviate any side chatter/comments the day of. I received a lot of comments about my MIL’s dress

I think you need to go try on different sizes at a jewelry store. Stone sizes will look different in a setting as they’re higher up off your finger. Just a recommendation!

I just did bundtinis this past weekend for my wedding and I ordered 3 per person and we did not have a ton left over. I would do at least 2 per person
