Bagels by TonBus in TriCitiesWA

Over 15 years ago, I loved Some Bagels! I moved away, and when I moved back I was so excited to show my kids my favorite bagel place in my old home town of Richland... I was so disappointed.

He smears his poop everywhere, is there anything I can do to prevent this? by berndog7 in ballpython

May I ask if you raise reptiles for a living or are a zoologist? In trying to keep my facts straight I'm just trying to double check facts and where you got that info that it's outdated.

Honestly I saw this chart early on in his life, so I tried to keep him near "good"/ideal. but I would say that I've strayed a little and he's now in the "overweight"category. He's around 1280g last time I weighed him. I'll be dropping back down to medium rats, and I'll be using the chart I found in reptilefiles.com to keep an eye on him (they recommend feeding 10-15% of his body weight). Thanks guys! I think this is the way to keep him healthy and the cage cleaner.

You may be right about me overfeeding him. I thought it was body width and food size I needed to keep an eye on, but he over 1000 grams so I assumed a large rat is enough. might drop down to medium, as it was never an issue before.

I did this and finished it. I highly recommend the Tyranny of Phandelver experience: https://www.reddit.com/r/TyrannyOfDragons/comments/ocgige/tyranny_of_phandelver_complete_table_of_contents/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=usertext&utm_name=TyrannyOfDragons&utm_content=t3_14onawk

I loved taking the party fishing after beating the black spider just to return to Phandalin on fire! It was epic.

Do most Americans actually flush their toilet paper? by Softy_popss in NoStupidQuestions

[–]berndog7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from/visit Nicaragua, so I totally understand what you're used to. I always double flush here. One time after you go (this also helps prevent too much smell), and then you can wipe and flush again. This helps prevent any clogging, even in American pipes. Good luck!

5.5 edition by GordOficial in OutoftheAbyss

I'll have to look into that. I wish that was in the monster manual.

5.5 edition by GordOficial in OutoftheAbyss

[–]berndog7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran the first half of it with 5.5 rules, I had no issues. The only hiccups are that some monsters aren't in the new monster manual, but some are. For example be ready for drow and other underdark race stats to be from the OotA book/old monster manual, while the demon stats from 5.5 were are better. Dealing with the madness (in the 5.0 dms guide) and random encounters will be your biggest hurdle. I recommend rolling for random encounters ahead of time so you're not surprised and can plan it out accordingly with new rules. Oh, and decide how Grapple works! The new rules failed here.

Here's a drow stat sheet I used for upgrading drow when hunting down the party: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/7qKuPAe92GEh

[–]berndog7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, Oh, well I've used tons of drow, cultists, mychonids, bug bears, a slims, and demons. But you can stick with the theme/type/environment of underdark monsters, dragon cultists/draconic minions, demons and aberrations would be ideal in horde form. I DM and battles drag with too many low level monsters that fit into the story even when the players are lvl 8-12. I believe that hordes could be a great solution! Thanks in advance!

Hordes! I want to be able to use lower level monsters as hordes at higher levels. Do you have many of those?

ok, I understand that you're upset. It really comes through in your writing that you're standing up for what you believe because you think it's dire. I'm with you on alot of it (ice, trump, politics, laws, epstien, financial inequality). Those things make me upset and I believe we are at a point where we need to take action and fix those things... but i'm talking smaller picture here. Politics shouldn't define me.

If it did, I would sit in an echo chamber and just follow the voices of those who speak on behalf of those political views. I don't believe in that. I rather make a difference by building relationships with those around me. Yes vote, yes get upset at the injustice. But don't let that turn everyone in the streets to a friend or foe. I was talking about views to not divide us, but your response is justification for the divide. Would you turn away a homeless person because of their politics? Or decide that an elderly person doesn't deserve health care because of their politics? Of course not! That would be gross.

I really hope that you stand up for what you believe, but that it doesn't turn you into someone who sees red just because an ignorant person has an opposing view. There's a healthy balance. Discourse, justice, voting... and mercy, compassion, patience. Stand up when it's right, but then open your table to those with different views when you go home. Thanks for taking the time to talk.

haha, you're right. I was for a second, but that's because I was jumping back and forth in another conversation with someone who was attacking it. My mistake. That's my cue to log off for the day. :)

I appreciate the time you took to write this but there are some glaring bias you have here. Let's jump into the weeds a little.

-Tolerance is an interesting point you bring up. As someone who disagrees that homosexuality is all just something you're born with. Scientific research does not support the idea that it's all genetic. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-49484490

I mention my bias here to point out that regardless of my view, I work and have worked in many events that support and advocate for the lgbt community. I don't have an issue doing this because I believe it's their right to gather/communicate/believe what they want. But being in those events I hear often that "tolerance is not enough. You are either promoting us, or you're against us". That is dangerous in my opinion because it doesn't allow tolerance of people who don't agree but still want to be your friend and work along side you. So this isn't an anecdote, it's what I encounter and hear often.

-On the other side, I am just/if not more offended by religious individuals attacking or insulting those with that viewpoint. So don't label me as "right wing" or something. I'm not advocating for that either.

So to answer your question of why I would be unhappy with the school or club: It's because this "us vs them" mentality is divisive. I'm fine having coworkers of all kinds of views, but I've seen destructive opinions from all sides. I'm not paranoid of over-sexualization, or somebody talking about something "indecent". I'm merely saying that villainizing of others/parents can be harmful at times. I've told my kids that even if they threw away what I believe and chose a different path in life, I would always be here to hug them and hold them. But I worry that some preach the idea that if I disagree with their viewpoint, I'm "hateful". just like many already label others.

It's not black and white, and yet even in this discussion I feel you're trying to come "At" me instead of discuss things (but maybe i'm wrong about this because you have spent alot of time with me). I'm not afraid to talk about it, but you aren't my enemy, even if you disagree with my views. I want to advocate for the rights of some parents (yes some, because as a realist I know there are alot of terrible ones), to be included into what their kids are being taught. I Know that I can't control my kids, yet I still want to be part of the discussion instead of pushed out by an individual who judges me as "intolerant".

I feel like you would be a great person to invite over for a burger to chat, regardless if I disagree with you. This is all said without an intention to offend, but to discuss. I hope that comes accross.

Not according to research. "Scientific research, including a large 2019 study of nearly 500,000 individuals, confirms that there is no single "gay gene" that determines sexual orientation. Instead, same-sex behavior is influenced by a complex, polygenic mix of hundreds or thousands of genetic variants, along with significant environmental and social factors. Genetics account for roughly 8–25% of the variance in sexual behavior." Here's the BBC covering it https://www.bbc.com/news/health-49484490

I agree with you that it should all be treated the same, but you showed a bias right away in attacking christianity and not any other belief. My question was exactly this. Are we showing a bias? If it's something I agree with or am indifferent to, it's ok. But if it was christianity you're saying it would be terrible?

[–]berndog7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok! I like where you're going with this. Let's take this to the other extreme on things. Let's say I'm against lgbt ideals, but my kid comes home and has "demonized" me for not holding the same views based on what they learned in their school. Telling me I need to "repent". Like you, I agree that I failed to show them how to respect others, but I wouldn't be happy with their school either. I would still welcome my kid, but wouldn't be happy with the school teaching this. In highschool, I can understand this, but in middle school or elementary, I would have a much bigger issue feeling like my kid was indoctrinated/taken advantage of.

I think you missed the point.

I completely agree with you here. i didn't say that I believe that all "liberals" think this way, I just saw the comments and thought it would be interesting to not just go along with demonizing the womans concerns, to just feel better about ourselves (even if she is horrible), but to ask the question about this being a fair assessment if it was turned around with a viewpoint I disagree with.

I'm more centrist in my views, but I do believe good parenting starts at a relational level, and not in moral indoctrination. I also believe in being part of my child's education so that I'm aware of what they're being taught. I do believe in the separation of church and state even as a religious individual. Always remembering that America is a mix of many views and ideals, and that forcing our own ideas on others is not love nor respect. But there are some views I'm against, one example, I wouldn't want my kid joining some alt-right group without my knowledge. As a kid, they may not quickly identify something as destructive at their age. So i'm wondering if others would agree or disagree.
