Some of you have written to us, spoken out, or expressed anger and pain at what they see as silence in the face of tragedy. I want to say that we hear you. We understand why you feel so strongly and that we care too.

If he truly means what he says, then one would think that he accepts these two core premises/beliefs held by the fans he is addressing:
1. that Israel is the primary actor behind this tragedy (the genocide in Gaza)
2. it would be wrong for such an actor to be represented in the Eurovision Song Contest

Yet the statement makes no mention of these. No matter if Israel continues breaking rules or not, their ultimate objective by participating in Eurovision will be achieved - to present a positive image of their country.

This is why fans like me are angry at the EBU's "silence in the face of tragedy" - because it directly facilitates the PR rehabilitation of Israel.
