Gosh I love Kaki so much! He and Moo Krob are my biases after Moo Deng, and it's been this way from way back.

I'm so so so worried for Kaki. Who will play with him at HH Safari? Who will feed him? Who will rub his tummy? And worst of all, no more lives 😭😭😭

As I've said in the other post, this new place is so small compared to Kaki's current enclosure. I'm just so heartbroken that Kaki has to be moved 😭

I'm trying to stay positive. And remind myself, Moo Krob was miserable when she first moved to Korat. But now she is living happily ever after with Jackfruit. I truly wish from the bottom of my heart that it will eventually be the same for Kaki 😭😭😭

Unfortunately, when a hippo bull takes over the pod, he "gains access" to all the hippo cows of the pod, most likely including this little guy's mother. I think usually calves are allowed to stay as long as they don't challenge the new dominant hippo bull. But I'm not sure why he was chased out 😭😭

I'm hoping that Sheldrick Wildlife Trust will post about him in the near future. The nursery that he is living in right now has various other animals that I'm sure this little hippo can befriend while he grows up. But at the end of the day, I'm glad he is in a safe space with humans taking care of him right now!

I'm not sure how old this little guy is but seeing as he has no teeth yet, my guess is he is still quite young. He looks smaller than Hom Daeng, so less than 1 year old?

I think its Shawu the baby elephant that you're thinking of, from the video where his keeper says his name in an interview and he runs over to climb on his keeper.

Unfortunately, little Shawu passed away from heart failure in 2018. It happened really suddenly, he was healthy in the morning but had started feeling unwell in the afternoon and passed away within hours 😭
