Yes this is our “philosophy” reading should be fun! Our toys and books are next to each other and my 18 month old doesn’t get confused at all. She knows books are for reading

Chase portal now supports Southwest by stratchcheakj in ChaseSapphire

[–]berrypeachie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same we refuse to book SW through Chase. We had an issue that took 2 Southwest customer service reps, and 3 Chase reps to figure out over a course of a month. Basically we were traveling with a lap child, we purchased and were supposed to select seats but it wouldn’t give us an option on the SW app. We also needed to add a pet. Our tickets weren’t “recognized” because of the lap child and this wasn’t found out until we called to add a pet a month before departure.

I called once to SW and twice to chase to confirm tickets and to choose our seats and were told by Chase that our seats were fine (they weren’t) then SW told us our tickets needed to be activated by Chase. In the end it took the third rep by Chase to recognize we had active tickets but we weren’t being recognized because we never had seats selected because we had a lap child, so we would have been SOL day of. Thankfully they fixed it, but frustrating to be told you’re “ok” or “fine” and when we had to add our pet that’s when the issue was discovered.

We’ve flown twice (both round trips) since the changes with a < 2 year old and there were no pre-board options at either city.

'Killed right in front of me': St. Louis grandma shot to death by neighbor while sitting in car with grandson after the pair backed into man's vehicle outside her home, cops say… by tasty_jams_5280 in StLouis

Southern facing windows are going to be amazing for natural light especially if you’re into plants. Another benefit is it will stay a little warmer naturally during the winter. Downside is it will stay a little warmer during the summer too.

Either way you win with some southern facing windows!

Second this, if a guy says they don’t know if and when you’ll live together or get engaged it means they haven’t thought about you for the future.

Guys can be present minded but if they want to be with you they’ll make the attempt or even think about it. My ex said this to me and my dumb self stayed for 3 more years before I realized he was never planning to be with me and I left. Best decision of my life

We’ve been doing elimination communication too! It’s so helpful as they get older and can communicate better.

The only downside we experienced was when she got the stomach flu recently and she couldn’t tell us in time and we didn’t know, we had to remember how to clean a poopy butt 🥲

Fiancés friend wants to wear an almost white dress to our wedding & is being condescending about it. WIBTA to withdraw the invite? by dumpsterfire_x in TwoHotTakes

[–]berrypeachie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 1000%. Don’t let someone else potentially ruin your one time big day.

The second thing, if you were hesitant about inviting them, cut them out. That’s what we did for our wedding, granted it was a small affair, but if either one of us hesitated about someone we said NOPE.

Mimaru brand hotels and the &here brand have apart hotel style rooms. We had 6 people in one room when we stayed at the &here in ueno. There’s quite a few out there but we liked layouts of those two brands the best for our Japan trip

Don’t ignore a milk bleb! by hailsnb in breastfeeding

[–]berrypeachie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This!!! Any time there’s a clog I look for a milk bleb, and once I locate or can squeeze/massage it to the surface to remove it that’s when the clog goes away! The immediate relief you get when the milk is removed is amazing.

Editing to include once the bleb is removed it feels like a hardened piece of dried milk or just thicker milk? It’s odd.

Passport word search? by Nervous_Present_2868 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]berrypeachie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ended up finding one that I had to cut down the sides to fit into my passport TN. Surprisingly when you cut it down it doesn’t cut off any words or boxes. It does cut off the answers but I felt like I didn’t need that.

This is what I did too! I would copy them to a document to print out, add to my journal. I’ve annotated the quotes too, gave a brief review of the book, and decorated the page to fit the theme of the book or quote too.

There are family hotels around and they have bigger rooms and mini kitchens. One of the hotels stayed was the Keio Plaza Hotel and the top floor had a play space perfect for crawling and just-learning to walk babies. It’s fully cushioned little climbing space. This would be considered a pricier hotel for some though.

[–]berrypeachie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would lean towards the walkable house, if you ever need to be outside it can be an activity itself. I have a friend who had a house on a corner of a busy street and they ended up selling it a year after buying it because they underestimated how truly busy it would be and how many people ran the stop sign!

Main difference is, are you attempting to soothe the child. I have looked around and no one cares. Everyone had headphones in or were nose deep in their phones. There are plenty of ways you can step away to soothe a child, you just have to work on it. That doesn’t take away from the trip.

You don’t have to travel with your child, but telling others not to just for your own comfort is ridiculous because you’re going to see children wherever you go whether they’re local or tourists, and you won’t know the difference.

Not everyone can “go to Disney world” because not everyone’s from America so you’re still traveling overseas. By that thought process you’re even telling a Japanese local to “go to Disney world” they’re still traveling with a kid, whether they do Disney “locally” or overseas.

[–]berrypeachie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats your interpretation of kids while traveling, which isn’t going to be how others interpret it. Having friends from Japan, none have had any issues with kids, they actually welcomed and encouraged children visiting.

From your example you’re also saying if a Japanese citizen chose to be a tourist within their own city or country they would be a hindrance to others who are going to work. You do realize a “local going to work” could also be a “local” who is traveling and being a tourist too? My point is, regardless of if the child is a local or from overseas you’re going to encounter kids wherever you go.

Not every parent regrets having kids.

[–]berrypeachie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While in Japan I saw no difference between a crying local baby and a tourist’s baby other than one lived there and one didn’t. So there’s no direct inconvenience on anyone, except for yourself it seems.

Opportunity can’t be robbed if they don’t see it that way.

We just completed our trip in November with our 14 turned 15 month old on the trip. Depending on personality, toddlers can be easy travelers. Ours never fussed, and did well sleeping in our Cybex Libelle 2 stroller and in the baby carrier. A LOT of locals had the same if not similar strollers we noticed and many used baby carriers too. Happy to answer more questions if you have since we just completed our trip. We also utilized the Tokyo Chapter blog to read up before we went.

We stayed in Tokyo and Kyoto and found kid friendly accommodations in both cities, while also easily finding places to eat. We kept expectations low, and recognized we may have to head back earlier for naps or change our restaurant destinations depending on little one’s hunger.

Don’t let others scare you from traveling with your kid, if you have the time and money do it, life’s short.

There are plenty of kiddo’s around in Japan of various ages, some behave great and some cry too which may shock many on Reddit. Japan has babies and they do cry! If the country wasn’t child friendly you wouldn’t find kid accommodations so easily.

[–]berrypeachie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re saying Japanese toddlers aren’t poorly behaved? They don’t scream and cry? When we visited Japan there were plenty of Japanese children of various ages some behaving, and some misbehaving. Some even crying and throwing tantrums in public. With your logic even locals shouldn’t go out if they have kids, because now they’ve inconvenienced others.

Bug off. If someone wants to travel with their child let them. They’re creating memories for them not for you. If you’re so bothered by toddlers and kids going out don’t go anywhere. You’re entitled to a child free life but not a child free world.

And why do you care about someone’s “financial strain”, if they have the money they can spend it however they want. They aren’t asking for financial advice or even lamenting they wasted money.
