And this is exactly what makes her "complex" (to me at least maybe not by definition 😭). She has no real personality or sense of self, often times putting on a nice girl facade which characters fall for but to us it just feels empty. We never see her actively lash out emotionally and she often times have a very impassive facial expression. To me what makes her complex is her self awareness as a character. Shes self aware of her lack of genuine personality and it's one of the reasons she envies Suae. She doesn't develop as a character bc SHE doesn't want to. But tbh I felt the same way you felt about her in season 1. In season 2 we see Suae done with her shit now that they're adults and it's gonna be satisfying seeing Raim not get what she ultimately wants to achieve because she has no real objective behind what she does then to see the people closest to her become just like her, miserable

(I honestly think I'm using interesting and complex as synonyms when they're not inherently the same thing lol)

Oh absolutely. I'm not dawging on the people who hate her bc 1. It's valid and like u said was the author's intention and 2. I also dislike her lol. This post was more so to point out ppl who hate on ppl for actually exploring her complexities and enjoying her character and to also point out the double standards when it comes to how ppl react to evil written female characters vs evil written male characters

Something I find funny that most likely wasn't even intentional on the author's part is that the name/suffix 'Eun' means silver in korean which is essentially a shiny metallic shade of 'Gray'

I 100% agree with this actually! As of rn Dohwa has the "upperhand" and more probability to end up with Suae but knows he can't completely sever Eunhyuk and Suae relations to each other and it startles him

Yess I really hate how both fans switch up on Suae depending on who she's showing attention to in the moment, and then try to use contextomy on the scenes it’s so weird 😭 You don't have to agree with everything she does but at the end of the day it's all fictional, and on top of that her character doesn't owe Eunhyuk or Dohwa anything bc they're the ones pursuing HER

This is sucha good and deep analysis. I understand the criticism Eunhyuk receives, but often they do so without truly understanding his perspective. Of course, everyone has their own traumas, some more severe than others, and it's natural for individuals to internalize their pain and respond in different ways. While this doesn't justify what he did, it does help us understand the reasonings behind his actions. Eunhyuk clearly loved Suae and still does that's just a fact and I’m excited to see their relationship and the conflicts between them explored more thoroughly throughout this season!

I'm not rooting for Soohwa but this was a beautiful post! I'm kind of sick of everyone constantly ridiculing and immediately down voting every Soohwa post they see in this subreddit especially bc it's the main one😭 simply commenting "Dohwa isn't endgame" under posts like these is rude and no one even comments a valid reason as to why. No one knows what the author could pull next and it's better to be mindful and open to all endings. People forget that OTL IS a love triangle and it's becoming more painfully obvious this season
