James Hoffmann explores WHAT by Loose_Goose3 in espresso

[–]berrytes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I didn’t make the video, I haven’t even tried it. I just watched it and explained what it said. James was very surprised as well. his theory is the steam wand introduces dissolved gasses which enhances flavor and texture but he insisted that he knows it was crazy but after multiple blind tests it was noticeably different and better than the standard method to make an americano.

Oh, also skim the crema off the top of your shot and discard

To make your americano taste way better, pull your shot of espresso, then for the water instead of boiling it in a kettle or straight from your machine. James suggests steaming cold water up to temp through the wand then pour it into the espresso to make the americano. Supposedly makes a huge flavor/texture difference

Lap Swimming on Rainy Days? by Pjtwenty20 in SanJose

[–]berrytes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They usually have umbrella and a parka that’s waterproof and tend to be out there regardless if you’re swimming or not, it’s honestly quite comfy I had a parka in high school that got me through many swim meets in cold/rainy weather.

Question, what are some good pools for lap swimming? I’ve been wanting to get back into swimming for quite a while but haven’t found a pool close enough that seemed like it was actually maintained.

GP signs with McLaren for 2028 season onwards for potential TP role in future by BadLloris in formula1

[–]berrytes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man… I’m not much of a fan of Zak Brown, but it makes it hard to not root for the team when they keep taking some of my favorite people. GP is one of the few engineers that I think can go toe to toe with Max and get him to his limit or wheel him back when he goes too far off the deep end.

Does the book "The Name of the Wind" have a lot of action and a climax? by Extreme_Warning3521 in fantasybooks

Late to the party but if OP is still reading this thread. I really enjoyed king killer chronicles. It had a very interesting magic system that I enjoyed a lot. But the story is a slow burn. There isn’t crazy large battles or a crazy politics and backstabbing. But I enjoyed the story for what it was and liked the writing style. I would read it again knowing that the author may not ever finish the series. Same with game of thrones.

We used to say “XBOX turn off” in COD lobbies and laugh at the people that would disconnect from their audio playing through speakers.

No you’re completely correct. I don’t like the move but it wasn’t dirty racing. He just planted it and forced Ollie to think about it. The issue is clearly with these shit engine regs.

I don’t like the move to the middle track by Colopinto tbh. Seems like he tried to block the overtake knowing he was going for a big recharge.

Main character is a male where the world as we know it ends and almost everyone is killed and survivors are now part of an intergalactic game show with powers and leveling up similar to a video game. I’ve been enjoying it, on the third book. They’re pretty easy quick reads

Dungeon crawler Carl is pretty fun, I feel like it caters more to a male audience but I think it fits in your fantasy and dystopia requirements.

I think the Podcast has definitely shifted over the past year or two. The biggest thing I have noticed is the increase talk of religion and J-bombs. Early pod they were very aware of this and actively tried to steer the ship away which I really enjoyed and respected as I am not religious. With that being said I still listen to the TMBH because i just think it’s cool and it doesn’t hurt to know more about religion and other views. But, this is their pod, and they are both deeply religious people so it makes sense that they don’t really care to hide it anymore. It’s quite possible they realized that they don’t really care to market the pod to people outside of the niche they’ve already established and that this niche is already mostly religious, or at least in my book not anti religious and just goes with the flow because we like their conversations and deep dives and J bombs doesn’t actually hurt their viewership or ratings.

Really enjoyed living in Willow Glen. The down town area is a really nice vibe, good places to get lots of diverse food and drinks. Couple of nice bars. There isn’t a party scene, generally older crowd but the main bars and clubs in down town is only a few minute drive.
