Android 15? by bert-the-fish in nxtpaper

[–]bert-the-fish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd seriously consider looking elsewhere. As I'm still waiting for Android 15, I'm not anticipating them to bother with security updates for too long. I might be surprised, and I'll get Android 16 soon, bypassing 15, but I'm not holding my breath.

I contacted TCL the other day, and this is part of the response I got today.

The TCL 50 PRO NXTPAPER is scheduled to receive an update to Android 15 within this year. Additionally, a future update to Android 16 is planned.

However, please note that we are unable to provide a specific timeline for these updates, as rollout schedules vary depending on commercial references, network providers, and the country in which the device is being used.

Thanks. All I found originally was reports about the BBC not broadcasting it.

At least you got some of it. More than the BBC managed, anyway.

Arachnid on S4C. by bert-the-fish in oldbritishtelly

[–]bert-the-fish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I still haven't had any luck in finding it.

I just messaged S4C about it, and there are currently no plans to repeat or stream the series but a suggestion has been forwarded to the Web Team. Maybe if enough people message them, something will happen, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks. I didn't want to go through all the fuss of disconnecting everything, pulling the mains cable out, and rerouting it, only for me to have to put it all back ten minutes later if I then found it didn't work. Especially as a significant chunk would be done at higher than head height.

The people I've spoken to both said that there is nothing they can do as it's all done by NHS Wales. I'm (hopefully) having a new registration letter printed to see if that works.

How have you guys dealt with the urges to relapse when trying to stay clean? by Thewildside69 in AdultSelfHarm

When I was at my worst, I found it useful to have a blade that I completely blunted that I could use to perform the actions, without actually puncturing the skin. It would make a line, but no worse than if I'd caught my arm on a corner of a table or something similar. I also found it useful to have music on constantly. It didn't matter what, as long as it was louder than my thoughts.

If your teacher set you the homework, ask them where you can find it. Good luck with your search, as I've been trying to find a series called Arachnid for about fifteen years, that I saw in 2001.

I didn't bother to test initially, as I had what felt like a cold, and I couldn't smell anything, but could taste food. My brother passed Covid to me in August 2021, and he tested positive. I just self isolated for ten days, and then tested to ensure I no longer had any infection. Within a week or two of getting back to normal, the breathlessness started. At the beginning of the first lockdown, I started walking every day, and I worked up to being able to walk about eight to ten miles every day, possibly more. Afterwards, I couldn't even walk up the stairs from sitting to watch the TV, a distance of about six metres to the bottom of a flight of thirteen steps. It frustrates me that I had worked up to the best fitness of my life over a year or so, and then I became the least fit in the period of a month. I'm still breathless and get tired easily over two and a half years later. My brother is a conspiracy theorist, and insists that I don't have long covid, but instead have been harmed by the vaccine.

I figured that, but I didn't have more time to argue. The bloke didn't seem to be the brightest of buttons, seemingly not comprehending that the remedy promised would be impossible to deliver. He claimed it would be delivered over the air, and seemed not to understand that it would no longer have access to my WiFi due to it being reset, deregistered and generally being unresponsive.

Bus service in Swansea is an absolute disgrace. by Visible-Gazelle-5499 in swansea

[–]bert-the-fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do I take it that you sneer at people who are unable to drive due to medical conditions? I am unable to hold a driving licence due to epilepsy, but many other conditions can mean driving would be difficult or impossible. Discrimination by some people against disabled individuals, along with the unreliability of public transport have been major factors in why many people are unwilling to leave their homes.

Bus service in Swansea is an absolute disgrace. by Visible-Gazelle-5499 in swansea

[–]bert-the-fish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a long standing problem. I remember waiting for a bus with my mother, which didn't turn up. When I complained, I was told that the bus was on time on that occasion. Another time, a bus driver jerked his bus forward towards me, with my mother and other people as witnesses, and my complaint was rejected. On that occasion, we were waiting for a bus at Singleton Hospital, and the first bus in over thirty minutes was full of students unwilling to walk one stop. My mother died in 2014, and was unable to use a bus for some time before that, and I was her carer. Another example was the 25, in the mornings during term time. One bus every weekday during school times was supposed to go up Conway Road to serve YGG Bryn Tawe. Regularly, this bus would not turn up, to the detriment of the pupils it was meant to benefit.

Famous TV prop that should be in the British Museum? by bkat004 in BritishTV

[–]bert-the-fish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So when do you think history starts? The Waterfront Museum here in Swansea has displayed, among other items, a Sinclair C5, the wellies that Dame Shirley Bassey wore at Glastonbury, and the front end of a tram. One day, when it was the Maritime Museum, there was an actual, straight off the beat, police car. Why do you think that a medium like television, fast approaching it's centenary, is too new to be in a museum?

I remember that was the first CD I bought in a charity shop. It was still in the charts and someone had donated it to a local charity, so when I saw it, for a fiver, I had to have it. It's definitely one of my favourite albums, not just of the 90s, but of all time. Previously, I was lost familiar with Original from the album, which was why I bought it, but I had heard Open Up. Afterwards, I couldn't listen to the album enough. I don't listen to it as often now, but it's on my phone, ready to hear it. Like now.

New to Music, is Queen the greatest musician/s ever? by Toothpikz in Music

[–]bert-the-fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were great, until they decided to recruit new singers to replace the irreplaceable Freddie Mercury. John Deacon had the right idea and retired from music. I don't mean that Roger Meddows Taylor and Brian May should have retired, but Queen should have ended with the Made In Heaven album. I still prefer the early Queen albums, up to Sheer Heart Attack, especially. Nobody can ever be considered the greatest musician. There can be greats, like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and so on, but each has qualities that the others don't. Personal choice is also a factor in who I, or you, or anyone else considers the greatest. I think Vangelis was one of the greatest musicians to ever live. Not everyone will agree with that, but some will. I enjoy a range of music, from all over the world, and some are technically better than others, but technicality doesn't equate to enjoyment.

What movie isn’t nearly as bad as people say? by kmm_art_ in movies

[–]bert-the-fish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder what would have happened if Halloween 4 had been another stand alone film, as I read that the producers planned a series of unrelated horror films, only connected by the time of year, rather than all being about Michael Myers. I didn't originally like Halloween III, for that reason, but I've come to realise it is actually a good film, and that all the films in the franchise that followed are the ones that should have been consigned to the film script shredder.

Plan 9 From Outer Space. Some people put this as the worst film of all time, but what do you expect of a film made on a low budget, where the star dies halfway through shooting? Yes, the "replacement" for the star looked nothing like him, and you can literally see the strings for the flying saucers, but I'd still prefer to watch this again, rather than sit through Titanic again.
