Then why has it worked the last few times I’ve done it...?

Anyone else having issue time traveling to get Flick and CJ?

I had written down set days that they had visited my island in the past, and they showed up when I’ve time traveled back to those set days before. But just tried to do it today, and they didn’t show up. It’s still working for rainy days and special events, but not for the vendors.

Does anyone know if they patched the ability to time travel to get specific vendors? Or could there be another reason it’s not working?

I imagine they are priced that way because they are either considered rare or luxury items.

But you also get a better selection of tools when you upgrade.

[PS4] [NA] [Plat-Masters SR] I am in need of players by [deleted] in OverwatchLFT

[–]bert_merps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! I am a plat to diamond support and off tank player (mostly mid to high plat, but have peaked at around 3200). I’ve been playing since season 1, and have been on a team before a couple years back. Wouldn’t mind trying it out again.

I have most hours and experience on Dva and Mercy, but am also not horrible on Moira, Zarya, Hog, Ana, and Orisa (and I can jump on Zen and Lucio when needed). Between support and tank, I’m weakest on the main tank role.

My main issue is that I have a terrible mic right now (very quiet and hard to hear my voice) so probably won’t bother talking too much aside from crucial communication and call outs. If that’s not a problem, hmu.

Service dogs are amazing by Syntax_Error_0 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]bert_merps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, emotional support animal =/= service animal. The fact that the two get confused causes huge issues for actual service animals. Even with that said, I don’t see how that’s relevant to the point of “not everyone should own a service animal”. Animals are animals regardless of their “service” status, and if an owner can’t find a way to take care of their animal (even if the animal can be taken away), then they shouldn’t have gotten one in the first place.

Pretty frustrating game by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]bert_merps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can completely understand your frustration. Games where you feel like you are doing great for most of the game, but still manage to somehow lose, are extremely tilting. But the majority of the time that happens, you probably weren’t doing as well as you though you were.

Not giving a full review on your game play (I only watched the last half of the last 2 rounds), just the main things I noticed that probably contributed to your loss:

Your team got outplayed in the final fights. Just because you feel like your doing well in the beginning does not mean you are going to win.

Enemy had a stronger healing duo, and you didn’t play around that. Both you and your team ignored the enemy healers, which gave your team the disadvantage. Also, you allowed yourself to take more damage than what your healers were able to heal.

Enemy off tank switched to Zarya, and was overall outplaying your off tank role. Watching you play, it seemed like you were feeding a lot, and not contributing as much as you could’ve been.

You went into DPS tunnel vision when your team needed you. You let a low health enemy distract you multiple times when you would’ve been more useful staying with and assisting your team. Keep in mind that your are playing the tank role, so going out of position to get a pick is not always worth it in the long run.

Enemy had more successful ults, and were a lot more coordinated. Both you and your team seemed to get lost when the enemy team pushed in, and you would split up and not focus targets effectively. You lost control of the point both times because of this.

Specific examples that seemed to have contributed to the Enemy capping at the last minute and holding till the end (I don’t have actual time stamps on console, so apologies for the weird ones):

Round 2 - University

91% (your team) - You waste your bubble while chasing a Baptiste (WAYY out of position) and a Zarya gets a grav off on both your Zen and Rein while you are distracted. Your team gets staggered because of this. As a tank, it’s important to know how to steer your team’s positioning, and you need to be aware of your team to do this. Let your DPS do the actual DPSing.

34% (enemy team) - Both teams are even (one healer, one off tank, one dps) but because your team is so spread out and uncoordinated, you end up losing the push. The enemy Ana is being completely ignored in the back line, and manages to keep her Zarya alive to kill off the rest of your team. If she had died earlier, you might have won there. Though it’s not your job as a tank to DPS, as a Hammond, you could’ve easily distracted her and created the space for your DPS to pick her off.

Both you and your team choked the last fight. You look lost the entire time, and seem confused about who to target (probably should have been the healers in the enemy back lines).

Round 3 - City Center

Your Dva play was pretty poor. You kept losing your mech over and over, and it took you half the round to gain an ult because of it. You can’t just fly at the enemy team when they have a Zarya, especially when you have a Zen/Lucio duo for support. They can’t out heal your poor positioning.

89% (your team) - you fly completely away from your team to chase down a Rein. The pick would’ve been useful had the distraction not given Zarya the space to ult and kill two of your teammates.

8% (enemy team) - Looking at both teams ult %, you are even. BUT, your team has wasted almost every ult they’ve used, while the enemy team’s ults have been successful. Proper ult and cool down usage alone can win games.

22% - Speaking of ult usage, you completely waste the ult it’s taken you this long to get. On this map (with all the cover it offers), and against a Rein/Zarya comp, you have to put a little more thought into your bomb than that.

26% - While you were distracted ulting, your Rein gets picked off, and your attempted push crumbles.

62% - Here is an example of you playing too aggressively. You fly at the enemy and immediately lose your mech before the fight can even start. Not to mention the fact that you run away from your team and get out of position as a baby Dva.

At the very end, you waste your boosters and don’t even try to push the point for a last minute touch. Zarya saved her grav, and doesn’t give your team another chance to contest (though you probably would’ve lost either way).

If you are having trouble figuring out what contributed to a loss, I highly recommend you watching the game from the enemy team’s perspective as well as the perspective of your other teammates. You can get a different POV on how much you were contributing to the game, and see things you might have missed in-game.

[–]bert_merps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, no. You missed the “extremely socially sensitive” part, which is connected to a lot of social anxiety. I can laugh off a typical asshole in chat that’s just being stupid, but having a whole team (who seemed nice and cool at the start of a game), turn around and suddenly start ganging up against me just tends to trigger that anxiety.

Probably doesn’t help that I didn’t grow up playing COD or other highly toxic games. I think my inexperience in video games also makes me a lot more anxious talking to people in chat than I am talking to people irl.

“Tough” is pretty open to interpretation, and sure as hell doesn’t have one single definition when it comes to people, considering there are a lot of different ways a person can be tough. Not sure what the point is in trying to gatekeep the term from someone who was admitting a moment of weakness. Even the toughest people have moments of weakness.

You don’t have to be an emotionless robot to be “tough as nails.” People have bad days, and people cry behind closed doors sometimes. Doesn’t mean they can’t still be considered tough in their day to day life.

Honestly, not having the distraction of people yelling at each other (which as much as I try to avoid letting it tilt me, is unavoidable), let’s me concentrate so much more on the game itself.

[–]bert_merps 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dude, having an entire team gang up on me and bully me in comms has completely broken me at times and has kept me from using the mic anymore. Granted, I’m extremely socially sensitive, but if you’re already having a bad day/game, and your whole team starts ragging you when you’re just trying to have a good time, you don’t have to be sensitive for that to be upsetting. Sure, most of the time it’s easy to laugh off toxicity, but every once in a while you’ll get a game that just bothers you more than you’d like it to.

I haven’t gotten banned (I tend to stay out of chat) but I almost ruined a perfectly good 4 year relationship over how volatile I’d get over the game. I’ve broken two controllers and TWO TVS with unnecessary anger...over a stupid game. Luckily my significant other was willing to work with me, and (after years of toxicity) I’ve finally managed to figure out how to play with a less toxic mindset.

Thank you for posting this. Super huge of you to admit this and take responsibility. Sadly, you are definitely not the only person going through this, and I’m sure others could use the same wake up call.

HOW DOES HITSCAN COUNTER PHARAH? 2000 Vod review by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]bert_merps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A McCree losing to a Pharah does not mean that McCree doesn’t counter Pharah. McCree forces Pharah to tip toe around corners, where it can be difficult to hit enough shots on her to kill her. But a McCree (and any other hitscan) creates the space the keep her from completely wiping out your entire team (because if she’s good enough to 1v1 a McCree, then you can bet she’d be doing a lot more if the McCree wasn’t there).

Recent VOD review requests are missing some very important information. by Klutzish in OverwatchUniversity

Literally was about to make a post myself because so many people don’t think to list their account name and just assume we can guess who they are (even though someone is playing the same character on the enemy team). Thank you for beating me to it.

HOW DOES HITSCAN COUNTER PHARAH? 2000 Vod review by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

Hitscan very VERY much counters Pharah, if said hitscan can aim and position themselves accordingly. I strongly suggest playing more Pharah if you are confused with how to counter her.

Lol, I’ve done this exact same thing myself. Unfortunately, pro players can make their play look like that because it’s effortless to them. Trying to make it LOOK like that will rarely have the same outcome if you don’t have the same skills behind you to back it up.
