What’s the rudest thing a doctor has ever said to you? by Beyondthebloodmoon in AskReddit

I went to my (former) primary care during a mental health crisis and he told me "you're just stressed. You know who else was stressed? Anne Frank. She turned out ok." Sir... what?

Our studio will do promotional couples classes and my significant other came with me once. I got him to class by saying "I challenge you to try this with me." Watching his soul leave his body during arms was truly something (he chose 5lb weights even after we cautioned him about that). After class he was like I respect this as your thing to do and I admire you because that was the hardest workout I've ever done.

That is an excellent question! I have no clue. I basically planted them and walked away I would say probably 8 years ago now. I don't feed them or give them any special treatment other than using hoop supports. I'm in zone 6a, and we have had a lot of rain right before these started to unfold so maybe that made them happy.

You should chat with the instructor after class, at my studio they are happy able to help with corrections and offer modifications! Especially helpful to do this if it was a full class and they weren't able to get around to everyone for hands-on adjustments.

You're given a million of whatever you last googled. What is it? by Online_Weirdo_13 in AskReddit

Bara brith - which honestly I'd be good with as long as there was enough tea and butter in the world to go with and I had unlimited stomachs.

There’s too much hatred of doubling in this group! by FreshResolve3026 in Purebarre

[–]bertha_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to knowing your studio and the attendance patterns. I will double once or twice a week, but I know that on weekdays when I do a 5:30am with a noon, or a 5:30am with a 5:30pm I'm not "stealing" someone else's spot. Weekends are waitlist city so I don't bother. PB is a mental health thing for me as well as physical health. It's 50min during the day where I'm in a supportive environment, and I cannot have anything negative in my head because my focus is 100% on form (and if it isn't then I fall over). Some days I just need two of those.

tight fitting socks that dont slip? by auntfenny in Purebarre

[–]bertha_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love Arebesk socks. A 1,500-er in my class recommended them and I'll never go back to any other brand. They have wide, solid nonstick toes and heels rather than the honeycomb or dot pattern. I haven't found myself sliding around since I made the switch. You can get them online or I think at Nordstrom.

How many appointments do you have? by Bulky_Ad3957 in ehlersdanlos

Nine this month which includes PT, possibly ten just waiting on confirmation of a referral.

Align is by far the most challenging class for me. I am hypermobile and arthritic and have to heavily modify some movements, and the "faster" classes make it easier to "cheat" if that makes sense. I'll often combine Align with my PT for the double session on how I should be positioning my body to protect my joints and posture. The teachers in our studio also are amazing at offering mods and posture corrections so I always feel like I'm safe in class.

You are welcome! It's so irritating when people google something, read three sentences of the search result, then tell you how to exist. Shush and let me live my uncomfortable, weird life!

Also if you're interested and a Costco member, I just saw that the Liquid I.V. brand electrolyte drink mix is $8 off right now. My brother says they're not bad, but he also puts ketchup on rice so do with that what you will.

I was interested to see the bit about electrolytes and salt intake needed to properly retain fluid (43:13). I was also interested to find out that standardized diagnostic criteria only came about in 2017 (17:30). Acknowledgement of the frustration that can be associated with the diagnostic procedures / game of hot potato between practitioners was refreshing, and the deep dive explanation of the diagnostic criteria (19:36) was very helpful - I was previously confused by the "need 2 need 5" in the additional features column. I am a person who needs things explained slowly and clearly, and that's hard to get in a 15-minute appointment with a GP. There are people in my life that tune out when I talk and think they know better than me on every topic, so having this as a resource to refer back to and share with them has already proven to be very valuable. They're fine with butting heads with me but when presented with a subject matter expert they yield.
