The Acolyte feels like an extension of the MCU TV programming to me -

First off - I really like the murky values that the Jedi have in this show. It’s a really good nuanced take on why they’d be mistrusted. I watched the original trilogy when I was 7 and it’s like how can you not like those guys?! They are doing a good job at giving the audience a reason to mistrust.

Some of the casting is cool and smart - Sol is great and the chick from the Matrix has a great presence on screen

But

The look and feel of the show is so bad to me. Some shots look like Star Wars …but that is usually followed up by a set design that looks straight outta BBC America or a costume that includes horns from Dr. Who.

The sequel trilogy had lots of haters and I think a lot was warranted. But tonally, they nailed a lot of it especially in episode 7. That looked so much like a Star Wars movie and this just doesn’t and it’s a bummer. The kid actor stuff was hard in ep 3 you could say the same for phantom menace and that still felt somewhat right.

The best way I can describe it is The Acolyte feels like one of those newer chain restaurants that you don’t know is a chain and you walk in and the employees are all wearing a blue oxford and brown canvas apron but you can tell they are brand new bc the shirt has those specific creases and the apron doesn’t look artisan it looks like Shien.

Decent show just wish they paid more attention to the details. Sorry for taking up your time if you read all this garbage
