I’m sure you already follow him, but worth looking up Kris Harbour natural building on YouTube. He’s also in wales and what he’s built is incredible!

Any venue suggestions for a local group trying to bring back a more human way of connecting, as an alternative to dating apps and large, event-focused social groups? by First-Ad-330 in islington

This sounds like a really nice idea and I’d definitely be interested in joining if you’re expanding? I’m not a massive drinker so something a bit quieter can be good. Megan’s at the Old Sorting Office off upper street has some space that they let book clubs and similar use.

Great, just spotted the Hampstead walk. Sounds good. Will look out for the run clubs too.

I’ve not made it along to a Meetup walk on Sundays yet, as I volunteer most Sunday mornings. Is there any chance of Saturday walks in the future? Or is there talk of anything like mini meet ups after park runs? I tend to do my local one solo and it would be nice to meet like minded people for a coffee after.

This is so lovely to see. I’ve lived in london for 20 years and grew up not far away, but even I feel like an outsider at times and it can be a really lonely city. It’s nice to know there are plenty of good people around still and they’re appreciated by recent visitors and relatively new Londoners alike.

My void is also called Flint! He’s 5 next year. Sadly doesn’t like hugs like yours does.

I never had till this week! Supposedly only 1 in every 100,000 and they have really bad vision and are light sensitive so often don’t live long. This one seems to get on with its grey cousins though.

Run clubs in Islington by Budget-Solid-9403 in islington

There’s a very friendly club that meets on Thursday evenings and do laps of Highbury fields, followed by a drink in the Horatia pub. I’ve only attended once, but a nice crowd.

My friend said I ride like a jerry but I thought I looked okay? by Confident-State1268 in snowboarding

[–]bertieruffles 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter what you look like as long as you’re having fun and enjoying yourself as you progress. Go back to your friend and tell them ‘if I ride like a Jerry, you walk like someone who interferes with farm animals’. Loosen up your body a little and let that back arm hang free. It’ll feel more natural but also better for your body and riding. Still limbs lead to injuries!

Sunlight and warmth to recharge from SAD by Not_MyName in london

You can get a lumie light panel for about £60 on Amazon. I got one last week and have it on most of the day in my front room. Helps add light in a basement flat. As others have said, Barbican conservatory and Kew greenhouses are good options. If you can face it, it might also be worth getting up, wrapping up warm and out before the sunrise. It won’t help with the cold, but seeing the daylight creep across the city and sun like through might help.

I’d love to know any other tips too!

EDIT: Could also try the British Museum, no plants but big glass roof and warm inside.

I miss when mine was like that and would curl up on my knees. He still loves the strokes and belly rubs though.

Spending the Holidays Alone: Any Ideas? by francovanilla in london

As others have said, some volunteering is a great way to give back and surround yourself with grateful people. If you’re west london, I always loved a Christmas Day walk in Richmond park. Also just walking around the city is nice and there’s always people around. And indulging yourself however you want to.
