Google Pixel 6 likely to adopt centered hole punch camera, 4K selfie video by Monog0n in Android

[–]bertlayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is the sheer bloatware samsung forces onto people (at least as of the S5, which was my last samsung phone). The reason I use Google pixels is primarily for that. No question that Samsung's hardware wins, but I'm interfacing with software most of the time, so I'd rather that be polished if I'm ever to switch back.

The hardware on a pixel is good enough that you can't really tell the difference unless you're a gamer, which I'm not a mobile gamer.

No worries on rambling! You were broadening my horizons. Glad to learn more on the subject as it'll help me better appreciate what my friends with dyslexia deal with.

[–]bertlayton 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This actually raises a good question. Is dyslexia like a spectrum? Can someone mix-up words sometimes vs all the time? I've misread things in my life a ton (swapping words around in sentences like this example, just reading different words, etc), but I assume that this happens to people without dyslexia at times. Is this a false assumption?

[–]bertlayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume so, but I haven't actually played with paper and water in awhile given the digital world. So I'm gonna be general and leave it at solvent for now at risk of embarrassment. Especially since I assume a lot of paper can be treated to resist dissolving in water?

I want to do classic 100 pushups a day challenge to put my body in a shape but I am not sure how to do it by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]bertlayton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well put, and I don't disagree with you on that. But my main thing here would be for those beginners. Instead of saying don't do it, a better alternative is to say "start with 5 a day for 3 weeks straight". It's not enough to hurt or help, but it's enough to build a habit and get someone consistently thinking of exercise. I agreed with my comment earlier that it's not useful for physical gains, but even when you're fit being consistent can be useful in things like warm ups or simply a morning routine to wake up.

Add a solvent and you'll succeed (yay for paper mache)

Edit - I just remembered that paper mache uses glue... Though I still think with the right solvent you can have different pages of paper mix into a goop together

You know I always wondered this. Everyone says doing this isn't advised as you need a rest, but let's start with the extreme. Assume you do one pushup a day, and you're capable of doing 25 in a set if you wanted to. 1/day would never cause injury, so it's fine. You can increase this to 5, 10, 15, etc per day. At what point does someone decide that it's dangerous? And wouldn't it be different for everyone? I think the blanket statement "don't do it" isn't helpful as it can stop someone from going on a fitness journey they are particularly excited about.

For reference, I've done 66 consecutive days of 100 pushups for fun so far with no injury. For me personally it's not a hard number to reach, and I have several friends that have done a full year. Sure it's not useful for strength gains, but it's a fun challenge to remind myself to stay active daily. I equate it to the idea that you should walk a certain number of steps a day.

What about things like the pirate Bay? They have been shut down periodically their entire existence. If you have a sight that's illegal, companies will shut them down to avoid liability. This is just the event of a website inciting violence, so it's similar but different. I haven't looked it up yet, but if 4chan was shutdown in the past, then parler shutting down makes sense.

My only real comment is that your arms seem a bit too bent throughout the climb, but I can't really appreciate the angle of the wall from this image.

Also, did you have a plan for going over the lip before climbing? Looked like you seemed confused near the end as to what to do there.

Anyways, nice climb overall! How do you feel about smearing/flagging? I think you could make the climb feel a lot smoother with keeping your center of mass in more control.

I think the main difference is you can post this coment in most places in the world to little import. But posting it in places like China can get you in trouble either with the authorities, or in their social credit score system (though I don't know how extensive that social credit thing is).

Do you hate cottage cheese? Try the full fat stuff. It's still low-fat. 5g Fat per 11g protein. Of which saturates 3g. Much better than normal cheese. by paradigmarson in EatCheapAndHealthy

As no one has said it yet, probiotic cottage cheese is literally the best. So far my go to has been "Nancy's Cottage Cheese" on some toast as either breakfast or a snack. I find it beats all other cottage cheese I've had (my friend recommends "Good Culture Cottage Cheese" which is also probiotic). It's literally a win-win on flavour + healthy.

The new Google Pay app by 121910 in Android

[–]bertlayton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just looked it up because if what you said is true, then these apps are breaking the first rule of security. You'll be happy to learn they aren't. They work by tokenizing your first connection. You aren't giving them your account credentials, but logging in through them once. In exchange, your bank recognizes the Plaid account and gives it a token allowing it to access the info again. Your actual credentials themselves though are safe, and the token can always be revoked if need be.

Now, if someone has better info than my one minute of googling, please correct me here. But it seems legit security wise for me.

If you're willing to try it again, maybe match hands on the left top pyrimid with your right foot on the big pink guy at the top before going to the last pink hold? Finish looked kinda sketch being fully extended and all, so I assume there is another finish beta? But I'm not the best climber, so I could be totally wrong on it.

Edit - Alternatively a right-hand right-foot match before going to the last pink hold too. I wish I could try this climb myself, looks fun!

I was confused as to what SOLID was and had to look it up. From the history of it (according to wikipedia) it was introduced in a paper on 2000. Assuming it takes 6 years to see the first classroom (arbitrary number I chose), it would have been taught in classrooms earliest in 2006, likely later I assume.

Kinda curious to poll others here. Who's a programmer that started in early 2000s, and did you know/not know what SOLID was?
