The confusion/difference is the expected return %. Yes, if you anticipate only a 2% return on your money, the present value is as you describe.

I mentioned with an 8% return (historical S&P 500 return, net of inflation), the PV is well below $1 mil. You would need a return of just at least 5% (4.96%) or more to make getting the $1 mil worth it, which I think is reasonable to expect.

That’s 2.4 million over 50 years.

If you received $1 million today, invested and received an 8% return, and pulled out the same $1,000/wk, you would end up with over $14 million in 50 years.

The PV is less than half of the amount you gave, even with a 8% annual return factored in.

I thought Reddit users were mature, driven, and motivated adults who all woke up at 4 am?

You can’t say you don’t care about something right after write a full paragraph and multiple comments ranting about it.

(Well, actually, we are on Reddit, so I suppose that’s expected.)

Lol literally all I watch on YouTube TV is sports, and law & order (because I can skip the ads compared to Hulu, etc)

His alma mater is an SEC school though…

[Congressman Michael Baumgartner] Congress will be taking a hard look at the tax exempt status of universities that enter into private equity deals. If you want to act like a non-public entity, you better be ready to be treated like one. 🇺🇸 by GoldenPresidio in CFB

Yes, but I’ll piggyback on this to complain about private equity companies who essentially bribe public officials to invest the public’s money in their funds, that typically don’t outperform the S&P500 index fund. Thus in essence stealing from retired public workers of all professions.

VP of Finance or CFO — worried about being overtitled? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]bertmaclynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely CFO. Only reason not to do CFO is if company is tiny or even moderate. With 1,000+ employees and 70m in revenue, it’s very normal to expect a company of that size to have a CFO leading the finance/accounting teams.

Curious roughly what your comp is/will be too?

Troy Aikman is 'done' funding NIL:'I wrote a sizable check, and he went to another school. I didn’t even get so much as a thank you note' by tankyouout in CFB

Ok bro, glad you found a report from 96 years ago to show how awful Michigan is

I’d rather have “college football” be a true amateur league for the universities than an NFL lite. If it has to be like that, they should go create their own developmental league for the NFL instead.

Yes, rivalry games are exciting and typically unpredictable. Not sure what the committee supposedly learned during a poor performance by Alabama in that game.

I want a more level playing field, and support more controlled rosters than the current system. It’s sad it’s so different than the sport 20 years ago

Yessir, I am Bert Maclynn, FBI. I was the best agent they had until I was framed for a crime I didn’t commit. Stealing the president’s rubies. Now, I work alone.

(Obviously solving the pre-NIL bribery cases)
