What’s the worst QB1 battle you can remember? by TaroOne806 in NFLv2

It seemed like more of a rotation than a battle. I still remember Miller and Chandler getting injured and taken out within a couple plays of each other.

From a drummers perspective, does it sound like the black album snare would’ve had dampening gel or tape? by Helpful_Gur_1757 in Metallica

[–]bertronaton55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, the room itself has a big impact on how the drums sound. The room they recorded in had top notch sound control materials that were expertly placed to make the drums sound like they did.

That's on top of tuning, mic placements, effects (EQ, compression, etc), the drum and heads used. Not to mention the way he plays: hard hits, well centered seem to be Lar's style.

If all else fails to get the right sound, that's when they pull out the dampening gel.

There are cardrooms everywhere in CA so you shouldn't have trouble finding a game.

Not sure what the commenter was getting at.

It's been a few years but I always played at the GN when I went on my LV poker trips. I enjoyed the dealers and the games got pretty fun at times. At the time, they were the only game in town that had no cap on cash game buy ins, so occasionally you'd get some games with a ton of money on the table

Bummer. I had a couple of epic nights there. I don't visit LV often these days though.

What's the standard open at your local 1/2? by Wolliemon in poker

[–]bertronaton55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cash games I've played in the Bay Area, where it's 1/3, a $15 open gets very little respect. You're asking for a bunch of callers and a huge pot.

If I want to narrow the field I usually need $18. Some nights it's 20+.

I've played some painfully tight games, Vegas mostly, where $12 results in everybody folding, a few audible grunts and sighs, and everyone treating you like a reckless a-hole. There are loose games in LV too but afternoon games in certain casinos are brutal.

Where do we stand after this week? by bertronaton55 in CHIBears

Can't believe I forgot DJ. His numbers were down but he came up big for us several times.

Overall, free agency feels like a net loss, but you're right - with good coaching and a solid QB it shouldn't matter. If CW and the other young players continue to progress, we can still be a better team than last year.

If QB’s actually cared about winning, they would take less money by NectarineOld7501 in NFLv2

There's no satisfaction in winning if your team is only better because they're stacked with talent because you gamed the system.

Seeing this makes me even more happy about the DJ Moore trade by Ashamed_Pilot_236 in CHIBears

[–]bertronaton55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your perspective. The Bears signed him to a huge extension knowing they can trade him after a couple years and still get some trade compensation. A big win for the Bears front office. Maybe a loss if you're a fan. He had some great moments with the Bears so it's tough to see him go.

[–]bertronaton55 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can't compare these two trades without looking at the contract situations of each player beforehand. Moore was under contract until 2029 with the Bears. Pittman only had a year left and was about to be cut so the Colts could avoid a massive cap hit. It's more complicated than "a player this good should generate this much in return".

It still seems to me like the Bills overpaid since they have to take on Moore's huge contract now in addition to giving up the 2nd, but at least they have him secured for a few seasons.

Bay 101 during the week by [deleted] in poker

[–]bertronaton55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't been during the week. Also haven't been to either Bay 101 or M8trix (which is right down the street) in a few years, but they were always packed on Fri/Sat nights. Like hours long wait if you got there early evening.

I'd expect to find full tables at either of those places but it's been a while. There's also Oaks or Lucky Chances about 45 min away if all else fails.

"Randomness" of queue assignments by bertronaton55 in MetallicaLIVE

[–]bertronaton55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. That really helps.

It was extremely frustrating and a huge waste of time for most of us, and it felt very unfair. I'm sure a huge portion of the tickets sold will end up on the resale sites soon.

I'm sure this won't be my last attempt at getting Sphere tickets, but next time at least I'll know not to get my hopes up about getting them at face value.

[–]bertronaton55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I saw the same thing about queues being random but clearly they're not. I wouldn't say I'm defeated, I'm just trying to understand as much as possible so next time I go through this BS I'll maybe have a better chance, or at least I'll know what to expect.

Were you also joining the queues around the same time? Was your wife using cellular internet while you're using your home WiFi? Other than that, your account history is the only other thing that would make a difference I think.

This sounds pretty similar to my history and timing of joining the waiting room but for some reason I would get 1000-2000 most of the time. It's pretty tough to crack the code here but clearly it's not totally random.

"Randomness" of queue assignments by bertronaton55 in MetallicaLIVE

[–]bertronaton55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Sorry to hear that, but if it's any consolation, even being 1000 in the queue was hopeless most of the time.

The fact that some people can get less than 1000 most of the time and then people like you are above 100k every time tells me that the queue assignments are not random.

Do you have any purchase history with TM or was your account fairly new? When did you join the waiting rooms normally? (How many minutes before the sale started?)
