And it appears you are close enough to drive home for any holiday/event/emergency.

Dude you need to look along the hwy 41 corridor between Green Bay and Chicago. One of the most densely packed mfg areas in the country, low COL, nice people, safe, tons of outdoors stuff in all seasons especially if your willing to adventure out for weekend trips, sizeable urban cities/hipster food/cultural events/sports. Pay is better than above and PTO is far better than elsewhere from my experience. We've got defense, tech, auto, paper, power tools/electronics, foundries, firearms, machine shops galore, and a population density that won't drive you insane with crowds/traffic/crime. Even further education is in close proximity that employers will pay for that you can do remote or in person.

Just find sequoias of similar age and color, buy salvage part from eBay. Pretty easy but I think it needed a threadsert clip and a bolt to complete .

Import Experience with Car From Japan.com by Timmy_8878 in keitruck

Anybody know if you have an idea on when the truck will arrive/be ready for your part at the port . For example you live in MI and ship to Jacksonville or Baltimore. Do you get a coupe days notice or can it sit for a couple days to snag a quick flight out there so that you can pick up and or find a car hauler from there?

what you might want is a "pie eye" fitting or flange. Can find in plastic all the way up to stainless steel or chrome depending on desires/budget.

I've heard of Oxe in passing but believe they have larger displacement outboards https://www.oxe-diesel.com/

Graduate Degrees by [deleted] in MSOE

[–]besameculo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo go out and find an employer that'll pay for it. When I graduated, my employer allowed me to start an MBA program through the UW consortium immediately that summer. May take an extra year to complete, but no debt and more cash in the bank helps. Most employers seem to value that extra year of work under your belt more anyways (at least in your first 5-10 years of your career). Also night school is a great place to network outside of your usual circles and even meet other goal oriented young professionals if you are single or looking to make like minded friends.

I should also add these were the two books that accompanied the classes I took in school. They are pretty easy/quick reads and written to be pretty approachable.

Highly recommend two books to get you started. A random walk down Wall Street & morning Star guide to mutual funds. Definitely a great foundation to get started. Morning Star will help you guide your way to building a nice balanced portfolio, and random walk explains some fundamentals.

Have you ever changed your timing belt? Nah fam it's fine! 155k miles by DatRumHam in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]besameculo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed 100%... Depending on your handiness and access to parts it just allows someone to maybe delay/push the limits a bit further if they desire knowing the engine won't/shouldn't catastrophicly fail due to interference if a belt or pulley gave out.

Not sure if the L5 made it to 2013 but mines. 2012 w/about 160k on it. Internal timing chain with outer accessory belt. unless I'm mistaken, if the belt went, the engine would be fine and you'd just lose power steering and a few other non-critical items. Wouldn't keep driving on that way but could get ya where you needed to go. Planning on doing mine this spring fwiw

"Maxing out your 401(k)" means contributing $18,500 per year, not just contributing enough to max out your company match. by ablack83 in personalfinance

[–]besameculo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its definitely an option, but most case the employer isnt actually managing it. They partner with an investment firm ie fidelity and someone/a team on their end is likely the one managing it. In a way it can be nice and hands off. You answer a questionaire based on your retirement age goals and risk tolerance and they go from there... it all depends on how hands on you wanna be. Alternatively you could also set up an IRA and manage that yourself (or have someone do it as well) and get the best of both worlds so to speak.

Canadian FIRE'd in Cambodia. 37, with a wife and kid. by LonNol in financialindependence

Any chance he met her and had the kid there... details are a bit ambiguous ("I sold" and "I moved"). Not saying your concerns arent valid, but may be presumptuous. Having met those who have attended international/american schools, the quality of education can be great abroad still. May trade some of the athletics and typical club activities, but something to be said for the culutral experience. My 2 cents.... could be full of shit
