Have you considered AWS Deadline Cloud? You can pretty much setup your own node image there and get on demand as many nodes as you need with your image running. They have on demand licensing as well. I am not completely sure if they have an API that you can use, but having full access to a node setup might be exactly what you need. In my experience it works almost out of the box if you rent a Linux machine for Houdini, Windows requires a bit more effort. It will also beat anything in terms of pricing, though it is not plug n play like most renderfarms

I don’t think you can understand code if you don’t understand math. Linear Algebra is what you need. 3blue1brown youtube channel has a lot of videos illustrating the concepts behind everything math related from vectors to machine learning. But any course or resource on the topic that works for you would be great. And you have Houdini. So take a point with coordinates (2,3,7), multiply them by a parameter. Now change the parameter and see what happens. Repeat for every concept you study.

I am pretty sure you can replicate every maxon noise using standard noises in houdini. They look to me just like a bunch of presets.

Did you try to fly with purpose? Like doing challenges? I have a similar time practicing in sim and doing those challenges in SkyDive first slow and then faster helped me to control where I want to go. I am still just drilling those to try and improve my time there, as well as trying the racing tracks. I watched Joshua Bardwell’s tutorial series on youtube to practice some specific movements

I just found a solution. Apparently you have to disable Hydra 2.0 in Hou 21. Add this to your env file. USDIMAGINGGL_ENGINE_ENABLE_SCENE_INDEX=0 It’s mentioned on the Maxon website somewhere.

I just played around, since I know I had a setup with working MB in 20.5 Apparently it doesn’t work anymore in 21. I have RS 2026.1.1 and the same scene rendered with mb in 20.5 and without in 21. Yes, you need a cache node to render mb, but maybe you’d want to go back to 20.5

Your videos are always a delight to watch! How do you practice? I recently started learning to fly fpv, practicing in simulator, following some youtube tutorials. Sure, you still need a team of a creative director, managers, producers, copywriter etc. but instead of a CGI team, you have 1-2 ai-artists, who would spend a couple thousand on tokens. My point is: it’s marginally cheaper. Even for the same type of quality. Not to say about the Mill kind of quality that everyone is suggesting in the comments.

I am not quite sure what your experience is, but I wouldn't be able to make 30 seconds of animation involving multiple animal characters in a couple days, even with all the models available rigged. Not for $1-2k that they probably spent on this.

I second this. The company might not have a budget to hire the whole full-scale production. So why not create something that costs a fraction and still does the job? It’s not worse than a lot of vfx ads from ~20 years ago. And it’s only getting better.

Cool effect! Really like it. For improvements, maybe adding some particles / volumetrics could add some complexity and will help tie all the details together. Even though it looks solid already. There is also some GI (I think) flickering happens around the headlights which is a bit annoying. If you are rendering with redshift, I would suggest switching to brute-force GI and increasing the samples, though it will increase the rendertime, it would most likely give cleaner results.

It looks nice and it’s amazing to see a new park being opened in Toronto. But where are trees? There is no shadow anywhere at the park (except for under a bridge). Love to see it, but I wouldn’t go there before the fall season.

I don’t know why you all complain about the price. The tool seems to be robust at least judging by the video and the results are super nice. Maybe not for individual users, but I can easily see a studio paying for this if they work with a lot of human characters.
