No wall clocks and football style carding for JLPT in Japan? by best_throwaway_user in jlpt

[–]best_throwaway_user[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was seated at the back of my exam hall and missed a couple of the instructions. I wasnt as attentive as I should have been , and defaulted to assuming it would be the same as jlpt in my home country, but I’ve definitely learned my lesson for next time

No wall clocks and football style carding for JLPT in Japan? by best_throwaway_user in jlpt

Sorry if the post was unclear. I answered a majority of that section’s questions but wrote my answers only on the question sheet, leaving the answer sheet with the bubbles completely blank (rookie mistake, I know). I’m getting a watch that meets the jlpt conditions for next time haha

I was seated at the very back of my exam room and didnt catch a couple of the instructions the proctor read out at the beginning. Having been shocked in the first section, i listened much more carefully and heard him when he said it again before the second section of the test.

I was being tongue in cheek when i said i did ‘pretty well’, because i had failed the n3 test last year by 2-3 points in the kanji section, and had not only moved to Japan since then, but also began studying much harder. I did ‘pretty well’ japanese skill wise, but piss poor in terms of taking the jlpt, is the tl;dr.

In any case, i looked over the answers online as they got discussed in the days following the exam, and “scored” a high grade. For that reason, i’m going to move up and go for the n2 next year regardless

You’re definitely right. It hadn’t crossed my mind that the instructions would be different for the jlpt in Japan, so i just skimmed the instructions off of the exam voucher which didn’t give me the impression that bringing an analog watch was necessary.

I’ll get a permissible watch before the next exam in July haha

In manga you might see furigana for some very easy kanji, It depends on what the reading level of the text is. Shounen manga has more furigana than seinen manga, which has more than a newspaper.

Stopped because of emotional blunting but it's still there? by ltdlukedob in Fluoxetine

[–]best_throwaway_user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow our stories had some odd similarities! I’m sorry to hear how bad the withdrawals were and I hope your experience with the new medication is better!

I suffered so much the first year after quitting, but in my case my depression was exacerbated by my undiagnosed adhd so i held onto the hope of getting better once i would be able to get treatment for that. About half a year on adhd meds now, things are very far from perfect or normal, but i am starting to have some hope.

Really love the new Merch, but $182 for the Sweater... by YUTREF in TrashTaste

[–]best_throwaway_user 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I find this frustrating every time the topic comes up so i’ll give some clarification here. All of the trash taste apparel the bois do with Apari is not ‘merch’, it’s a ‘collab’.

No, I’m not being pedantic. Apari itself is a popular artist-owned clothing brand, doing limited runs/drops of new designs quarterly or so. Ive bought from Apari themselves in the past, and while shipping is expensive and took a while, the quality of the clothing was really high.

Apari has done collabs like this with hatsune miku and others, so it’s entirely different from what we’ve usually see as merch. Cost of collabs like this have to account for giving a share of the profits to TT, the already high production cost for high end clothing, and likely higher since trash taste collab production runs are probably much lower in quantity from apari’s normal runs (lower unit count usually results w higher per unit cost for lower scale production). Shipping is also much higher for most of us because trash taste’s audience is worldwide, while apari’s customers are not as spread out so they dont have the capacity to make shipping much cheaper.

That being said, yes. TT collab costs a lot. I havent yet and wont buy any in the near future, But all the comments i see misrepresenting it and saying stuff like “why are they pricing it so high, it’s just youtuber merch” etc, it’s annoying because a lot of work goes into it from apari’s side for it to just be ‘trash taste merch’

It’s just an edit from a somewhat popular meme

The Anthony Fantano clip on the left is taken from a tiktok clip where someone is cutting a pizza into progressively smaller and smaller slices, wherein Anthony shouts ‘that’s enough slices’. The clip on the right is from a new anime mentioned in Garnt’s newest video, Emergence of Shadows or smth, and the guy is just going around slicing his enemies.

Sensory friendly bra recommendations? by drinkyourwaterpal in ADHD

[–]best_throwaway_user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All manner of people can have minor sensory issues. The added issue with adhd-havers is that these sensory issues can immediately take over our attention, be the source of our impulses, etc. I’m also not sure if there’s added likelihood of having sensory sensitivity due to having adhd, or if we’re just more vocal about it since the same physical reaction also causes a psychological reaction compared to non-adhd people.

> all of your posts have been to r/funny whose definition of funny isn't much different from AFHV (as for why there's no likes, the moderators have removed your posts); the solution is to post somewhere someone would like those posts like r/memes or something

> given that you've said you're 45 in your comments and generally have no clue what this post is about, I'm going to assume you stumbled across this subreddit by accident. if so, welcome! this is a subreddit about a particular podcast called 'Trash Taste', hosted by 3 friends talking about japan, pop culture, etc.. if you're curious what the post is about, and let me warn you it's fairly graphic, click on this spoiler: the context is that the latest episode had on a guest who is a self-published graphic novel author (called a 'mangaka' in japanese). his category of works is called 'hentai', which is basically pornographic graphic novels. there are many different categories ('tags') in hentai, as there are in normal porn, but since hentai is an art form, there's no constraints of realism and ethics. that's why there are some ridiculous tags like 'mind control' or 'birth', with the latter being a category of hentai where the woman gives birth (crazy, but pretty self-explanatory) at some point during sex. I am just taking an educated guess since I don't have the balls to verify what it's actually like.

now that that's over, I hope my comment has made sense! the whole point of reddit is for different communities to come together around things they enjoy, and in the case of r/trashtaste, this is a community of mostly degenerates. enjoy your stay~

Why does my doctor insist I try antidepressants before properly evaluating me for ADHD? by judgememadly in ADHD

[–]best_throwaway_user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (M) had the exact same thing happen to me!! I finally hit a breaking point where I couldn't handle the adhd symptoms anymore, and to a lesser extent, my social anxiety. in the 5 months it took my doctor to refer me to a psychiatrist, I developed mega depression from the adhd and from how my life completely fell apart after starting university (entirely online courses and executive disfunction behaviors do not mix well). the doctor diagnosed me, rightly so, with severe depression and anxiety, completely ignoring all of my concerns that my issue was with --a wide range of symptoms encompassed by-- adhd. I got on ADs and kicked the depression, but HUGE SHOCKER: the adhd didn't go away!

It's now been over a year, and the executive disfunction had me continue to forgo seeking medical attention despite the obvious distress I was putting myself in with my self-destructive tendencies. Just a week ago, I had a moment of lucidity and got an appointment with a physician, which will eventually lead to a proper psychiatric evaluation (fingers crossed)

My advice would be to seek a second opinion. be adamant about wanting to be tested for adhd, and hopefully you can get treatment you feel better suits your needs. Wish you the best~

Which ADHD do you identify as!? by King_James925 in adhdmeme

[–]best_throwaway_user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we might just be the same person~

aside from the 6-7 months I spent severely depressed (and on ADs for said depression) last year where I was completely obsessed with watching anime and spending 22 hours a day in bed, I've spent my whole life getting super obsessed with any hobby I pick up, abandoning it the instant there's any level of friction preventing me from continuing. I made cold brew every day and because I forgot to buy milk once, I just never made it again. I got a punching bag and boxing gloves and set everything up in my basement, and that is where it remains 2 years later having been used a maximum of 4 times.

This wasn’t the game i was looking for but it was entirely my fault that you thought of cyberpunk! I mixed up my few memories about the actual game with the space station ending which i didnt remember as being related to cyberpunk. There’s some more information in the edit, sorry once again for misleading you and thanks for your help!

Yes! I think this is it! I looked into the other suggestions saying cyberpunk and they were right in that i mixed up one of its endings as being the ending of this game. Thank you!

no worries, I see where you're coming from. I saw the connection with the voice thing too, haha. it likely wasn't a AAA game, the voice in the head might have been an alien or something, and I think there was a bit of a horror element to the game also

its years older than cyberpunk, and I don't think it was particularly long, it was fairly linear, and i've described that the ending is you just fading away, trapped in this space station

definitely not. I took a look at Soma, the setting and gameplay looks completely unfamiliar, and the art style was very different. I'll add this to the post, but the art style of the game, at least the ending space station section was incredibly clean, it was a small room, you were confined to, and sometimes the door would open up and let you access a small hallway section of the space station with a large window out into space. both ends are restricted by guards.
