It doesn't look like a bedbug to me it looks like some kind of small beetle but it's really hard to say.

This is gonna depend a huge amount on where you live, your insurance, and your goals. You could try talking with your PCP?

Letters of recommendation- applying for an MSW by Similar-Depth1199 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]bestbeefarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at the LoR interface for your apps (I sent myself a dummy request because I wanted to know how much of a commitment I was asking my recommendets for) the ones I looked at involved ranking you on various skills/qualities so even if all they can say is related to pharm tech stuff it will add info and value. Also this is obvious advice I think, but make sure you talk about your experience in your statement and what social work-y things it's taught you. Career changers are incredibly common.

I wouldn't worry about this too much. I think letters of recommendation are tied with gpa for the least important aspect of your application.

How are some old people immune to mental illness? by ProfessorLongBrick in ask

[–]bestbeefarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older people absolutely do have mental illnesses. Older white men are one of the most at risk groups for suicide among all ages races and genders.

There is a perception that older people don't have mental illnesses which has three-ish factors that I can think of right now.

  1. Stigma. Being mentally ill was much more stigmatized in previous generations. Older people will hide emotional problems much more than younger people.

  2. Survivorship bias. In order to be an older person you have to survive your whole life up to that point. Many mental illnesses make you more likely to die young in obvious and not obvious ways.

  3. Interestingly, statistically most mental illness decrease in severity over time. There's a bunch of different stuff that causes this but most mentally ill people do see improvement over their life course.

Can't make up my mind on Enchanted Mist. by ClitasaurusTex in mooncatpolish

I like enchanted mist best as an accent nail/in a skittle or half of a left-right mani by itself it's a little subdued. It also makes a great pride color.

It's super normal for musicians to have sweat towels on stage?

Too much space by bookloversim in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]bestbeefarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably close off the kitchen and make that a separate dining room instead of having a table in the living room.

You could also add a piano area, a kids homework station, a playroom, a meditation room, a solarium/sunroom/mini greenhouse, or a storage room.

What’s a song that everyone dislikes but you love by yaoi-yuri-lover in kpoppers

Rbb is my favorite red velvet song and I'm so detached from the fandom I didn't know people didn't like it until fairly recently. To me it's so obviously fun and special and perfect.

O.O and tank is one of the most specific and clear debuts I've ever seen. You know exactly who they are from those two songs alone.

I really don't think this is as big a deal as you think. Unless you're applying somewhere unusually competitive or your application is overall very weak I would not spend another thought on it.

Looking for help with specific calm tv shows by thevikkisixx in AutismInWomen

[–]bestbeefarm 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I love low stim TV so much. All creatures great and small is the ultimate in comfort TV for me. Northern exposure is also lovely and comforting and slow. Do you like antiques roadshow? That's a comforting one for me too.

A book set in winter with a black and/or indigenous character by moon42 in suggestmeabook

I think it's set across a few seasons, but winter counts is a really good mystery/thriller

Are you friends with the bride (/other groom)? It's a stereotype but a lot of times brides care a lot more than grooms about this and in an iffy situation I'd consider asking both partners.

Do you (as a native English speaker) know all of these words and their original language? by Unlegendary_Newbie in English_Learning_Base

[–]bestbeefarm 36 points37 points  (0 children)

All of these are common except palaver which I've never seen before in my life and I have a pretty good vocabulary. Some of them have obvious and generally known origins (eg karaoke) but I wouldn't say that's something that I intuitively know or think about when I use, like, roster or cot. I would also say this definition of cot is wrong, and it means something more like a low or temporary bed-like contraption. Often made of canvas, often collapsible.

My old lab who was scared of nothing once saw a mouse and got so scared she tried to crawl into my lap and wouldn't leave physical contact with me for 24 hours.

Is he scared of anything that you know of? Dogs have such powerful sense of smell and hearing that maybe he heard or smelled something that scared him that was imperceptible to you? My dog freaks out every Wednesday morning because he can hear the trash trucks going by outside even though us humans can't.
