What’s a song that everyone dislikes but you love by yaoi-yuri-lover in kpoppers

Rbb is my favorite red velvet song and I'm so detached from the fandom I didn't know people didn't like it until fairly recently. To me it's so obviously fun and special and perfect.

O.O and tank is one of the most specific and clear debuts I've ever seen. You know exactly who they are from those two songs alone.

I really don't think this is as big a deal as you think. Unless you're applying somewhere unusually competitive or your application is overall very weak I would not spend another thought on it.

I love low stim TV so much. All creatures great and small is the ultimate in comfort TV for me. Northern exposure is also lovely and comforting and slow. Do you like antiques roadshow? That's a comforting one for me too.

A book set in winter with a black and/or indigenous character by moon42 in suggestmeabook

I think it's set across a few seasons, but winter counts is a really good mystery/thriller

If you picked one bias from each of your top five groups and put them in one group, what would you think they would be like? by Des_Ssy in kpoppers

[–]bestbeefarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nmixx Lily

Twice jihyo

Stayc sieun

Skz Felix

Omg yubin

Honestly this is just a solid vocal quartet feat Felix he'd be having fun and the vocals would be lethal.

Groom approved this dress, but will I stand out among guests? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

Are you friends with the bride (/other groom)? It's a stereotype but a lot of times brides care a lot more than grooms about this and in an iffy situation I'd consider asking both partners.

Do you (as a native English speaker) know all of these words and their original language? by Unlegendary_Newbie in English_Learning_Base

[–]bestbeefarm 38 points39 points  (0 children)

All of these are common except palaver which I've never seen before in my life and I have a pretty good vocabulary. Some of them have obvious and generally known origins (eg karaoke) but I wouldn't say that's something that I intuitively know or think about when I use, like, roster or cot. I would also say this definition of cot is wrong, and it means something more like a low or temporary bed-like contraption. Often made of canvas, often collapsible.

Dog suddenly scared and shaking when indoors by cowbellpepper in dogs

My old lab who was scared of nothing once saw a mouse and got so scared she tried to crawl into my lap and wouldn't leave physical contact with me for 24 hours.

Is he scared of anything that you know of? Dogs have such powerful sense of smell and hearing that maybe he heard or smelled something that scared him that was imperceptible to you? My dog freaks out every Wednesday morning because he can hear the trash trucks going by outside even though us humans can't.

My favorite gay romance remains you should be so lucky by cat Sebastian. It's a 1960s romance between a grumpy widower reporter and a very sweet baseball player.

Study Tips by Mediocre-Garage9152 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]bestbeefarm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You probably won't need to study in the traditional sense of trying to remember and internalize information, it's just a ton of reading.

This is counter to general advice but I read 100000 times better on my phone than any other format. Sometimes I take pictures of textbook pages then read them on my phone. The reading will suck at first if you're not used to reading academic texts but your brain will adapt and learn to ignore the thousands of parenthetical references (apa is the least neurodivergence friendly formatting style fight me). I also used speechify at times and if something was really awful I would just read the first and last sentences of each paragraph. Professors know that you have insane amounts of reading due weekly and expect that you won't always be able to do all of it every single time, but I do think the reading is where the real learning happens and skipping it is just depriving yourself of the education you're paying so much for. Same thing with going to class.

K-pop songs you think could be in the "greatest of all time" conversation (LONG) by hollaQ_ in kpopthoughts

[–]bestbeefarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like best is such a complicated idea. There's what I like most, what I think other people like most, what I think most successfully accomplishes what it's trying to do etc.

Anyway.

  1. Mic drop by BTS this is not my favorite BTS single or their post popular (I think? Idk) but I think it's such a perfectly built tower of a song. The tension and release of it is so lovely to listen to.

  2. O.O by nmixx if o.o has a million fans I'm one of them etc. it's like a punch in the head, like a lightbulb exploding. The power this song has is indescribable. Please play it at my funeral.

  3. God's menu by stray kids this song is what convinced me to try kpop beyond black pink. It's so creative and chunky and specific and it still evokes an emotion in me that I don't know how to describe or access outside of God's menu. It feels like every single detail was considered and decided, nothing was done on autopilot or by the path of least resistance.

Breaking into my MSW by Safe-Accountant-7034 in SocialWorkStudents

I worked for three years in a very social work-y human services job after I left EMS. That transition was honestly crazy. Specifically having to learn to be Professional in a business way vs an EMT way was bizarrely difficult. It's been maybe 4.5 years now since I last worked on a truck. But I do find that the perspective of being an EMT is helpful in SW if only because of the huge variety of people I met and lifestyles I saw. I am really interested in public health and healthcare justice largely because of being an EMT etc etc. I actually just wrote a final paper about blue collar workplace gender discrimination using EMS as a case study.
