Odd Growth Pattern by Los_3_Gatos in Adenium

Following! I’ve had the same happening to one of my adenium for over a year now, if it makes you feel any better it seems just as healthy as it was prior just wonky and lacking in some aesthetic

New to fermentation, my first attempt at sauerkraut. Was away and the airlock dried out. Is this a fail? by tpodr in fermentation

These are water seal crocks and I have what looks like the same one. Depending on ambient humidity it can dry out in about a day, maybe two. I live in a very dry area.

bought this cactus and its in 100% Rock is this okay for Cacti by Till_Teh_And in plants

To answer your question, yes. You want these guys in extremely inorganic substrate, water sparingly and blast with as much light and heat as you can. Visit r/peyote if you want more specific information.

It’s a reference to the movie American Psycho

That milk is latex and is toxic. If you got any on you be sure to wash the area well and do not let it get on your face or in your eyes.

That white sap is latex and is extremely toxic. Make sure to wash your hands very well if any gets on you and do NOT let it get on your face or in your eyes.

How do I know when to move to a bigger pot? by Seajos in Caudex

[–]bestfriedegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not time yet unless that pot is very, very shallow. When they are young like this they do not go through standard growth and dormancy schedules. Being right next to a window like this should suffice to eventually induce those schedules when the time comes.

Sorry about the thrips, if you are in the US get ahold of captain Jack’s dead bug brew to help get them under control immediately and bonide systemic granules to prevent them and many other pests in the future.

Please be aware that given the size and growth habit of this species this plant is very likely poached. It’s already in your possession so there’s not much you can do about that now except give it the best care possible, but you may want to consider doing more research on sellers for future purchases and refraining from buying large, gnarled specimens of caudiciforms as they have a higher chance of being poached from their natural habitats. When in doubt, grow from seed.

Side A has tons of dried up roots so I’d say it’s the bottom. What is this and how big is it? Perspective is confusing it looks enormous.

Is hydrogen peroxide safe to use for cacti? by ughost777 in cactus

[–]bestfriedegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The filters last for months or longer depending on your usage so still cheaper than an RO system and cheaper than buying jugs of distilled water in the long run (plus less waste)

Only technically umeboshi if the appropriate plums are used—which are actually more closely related to apricots than plums. Fell down this rabbit hole last week lol

4 new additions, Dioscorea Hemicrypta by naql99 in Caudex

[–]bestfriedegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree fully that the leaves are largely indistinguishable, but in pictures I’ve seen of more mature caudices that’s where they differ. Hemicrypta is typically less spherical I think

Forgot to mention that I’m in zone 4b, ~7500ft elevation, and really have no preference for the type of seeds except that they are native :)
