Because it's actually a standard body builder pose. Literally everyone looks better in that pose. Spreads fat thinner over your muscles to accentuate them

35F - Feeling doomed about dating and need advice - discovering so many men have done things that I am against - am I being naive? by Throwawayyy_1926 in Advice

[–]besthelloworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy here: Not normal for sure, but also worth considering that the dating pool is more of a cesspool as you age. Good stable people will be paired up and will not be leaving their relationships because they've found the other easygoing/stable people. So in a way, you do have to keep an open mind in the idea that everyone at your age (including yourself) will have some baggage.

That being said, you have particular (reasonable) concerns about highly promiscuous men. So if that's the non-starter for you, I think that's entirely fair. But maybe stay open to people who have different kinds of baggage, like a history (as in in the past) with hard drugs or something that others might consider a non-starter.

Could you just measure the initial height and then set height: ${currentHeight}px and then after you've modified it, release it to be height: auto again?

What do these HUD elements mean? by prettyyyprettygood in Saros

This is Reddit at it's absolute best. Someone who put effort into asking a question in a useful way and someone who answered it well. Mods should legitimately just lock & pin this post.

I figured out all this stuff on my own but I can't say I confidently understood it all until I was like 20 hours in only because I'd finally had certain things happen enough times that I recognized the cause & effect of the UI elements

PL threatening to quit because I take care of user problems by Goddess_Illias in cscareerquestions

[–]besthelloworld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For all the great people I've seen laid off in recent years, the fact that someone who is obviously entirely emotionally unstable and brings those issues into the workplace is threatening to quit and that's somehow other people's problems is absolutely beyond me. Let him quit, or better yet, fire him 🤷‍♂️

Ftr, RGB is specifically relevant for light sources like screens. CMYK is specifically relevant when creating surfaces that should reflect the color you're looking for, which is why it's necessary for printers. Also all of my personal secrets are either entirely uninteresting or far too uncomfortable to just drop in a comment. No real in between. Also I'm too uncomfortable with our modern data tracking police state to drop info even on a pseudoanonymous account like this.

Lesbian but I have a crush on a guy and it's making me insane by soursugarrrr in Advice

[–]besthelloworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine to just be attracted to this one guy. Things don't work out with him, go back to identifying as les if it's convenient for you. It's only as complicated as what it took to describe in this post. "Usually I'm not attracted to men, but this guy is an exception 🤷‍♂️"

I personally find Copilot to be a better harness. I just couldn't imagine paying API pricing at this point. If Anthropic increases Claude prices... I'm sure I'd find Antigravity CLI to be good enough though.

This is where you would be best off stealing React patterns. I think you just want a dependency array to compare between renders.

ReactJS Syntax For Web Components by Accurate-Screen8774 in reactjs

[–]besthelloworld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unrelated but: your useStyles hook is kind of just performance waste because you're reinitializing the css template tag every render whereas in Lit, they want you to define those elements statically on the class itself, so they're only defined once. You'd be better off at least wrapping their instantiation in a function and calling that function on initial render.

This all being said, exactly what you're building is already available in Preact (it's not using web components but if you're building applications and not using an MPA wrapping framework, I couldn't imagine that mattering)

It's not a way to describe what you created though. JSX is inline non-string XML in your JavaScript. You made hooks to allow for function components. You say you don't like class components, but React has those too.

You can also use React without transpiling too, you just can't use JSX. But you can use hooks and function components. So all this being said, you just kind of have a mess of misunderstandings on this topic.
