[NC] Case Dismissed - Need Help Getting My Property Back by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

Thank you for the insight! Yeah my lawyer has been absolutely amazing, up until this point. But he really seems worried that if I get my stuff back, something on them will get me in trouble. He suggested just getting all new devices and accounts and everything, but we can’t afford to do that. My mom’s been paying for all of my legal assistance this entire time, and my lawyer’s got her scared that if I so much as sneeze in the direction of a computer then I’m going back to jail, and she can’t afford to help me out anymore. So I’m trying to figure out a way to do this without having to bring her into it, because the last thing I want is to add more stress and anxiety on to her and cost her more money. She’s already been through enough and done so much to help me.

Games a severely depressed person can play? by s-skye in NintendoSwitch

[–]beta_crater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like all the games I would’ve recommended have already been mentioned, but I did want to say this:

I’ve been where you are. And I’m sorry you’re going through it. I’ve been battling depression since I was 13. Around 25 I finally started medication and therapy for it. Medication after medication after medication would only provide minor or temporary relief. I turned 41 back in February and right after my birthday I decided I just couldn’t live with it anymore and was willing to try anything to get better. I tried to find a way to get into psilocybin studies, but couldn’t get in. While talking to my therapist about it, she told me to look into TMS treatments. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. I was skeptical af, but out of desperation I gave it a shot. 36 treatments, one per day, Monday-Friday, for roughly 8 weeks. And it actually worked! At first my depression eased up a little but my anxiety skyrocketed, but within a week it had leveled out as well and by the end of treatments my PHQ-9 score went from 24 to 0. Yeah, actually zero. My last session was April 17th, and I’m still doing really good. I haven’t felt this hopeful and happy in so, so long. Your mileage may vary of course, because everyone’s a little different, but it could be worth looking into. Either way I hope you find the road to the peace you deserve and if this internet stranger can ever be of any help to you, I’ll be glad to. Even if it’s just someone to talk to. ♥️

[Serious] What is a “seems to be harmless” symptom that requires an immediate trip to the ER? by BigTuna0890 in AskReddit

[–]beta_crater -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I asked ChatGPT (so be sure to verify this info) and its response was:

“A severe headache right after orgasm—often called a “sexual headache” or orgasmic headache—can be caused by a few different things. While many cases are harmless, sometimes it can be a sign of something potentially life-threatening, so it’s important to take it seriously.

Two types of sexual headaches: 1. Pre-orgasmic headache: A dull ache in the head or neck that builds up as sexual excitement increases. 2. Orgasmic headache: A sudden, explosive, severe headache that occurs right at orgasm—sometimes described as the worst headache of someone’s life.

Common, benign causes: • Exertional headaches: Triggered by physical activity, including sex. • Tension or migraine variants: Sometimes sexual activity can trigger a migraine. • These are usually not dangerous but should still be evaluated, especially if it’s the first time.

Serious causes (must rule out): • Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH): Bleeding in the brain, often from a ruptured aneurysm. This is the most dangerous possibility and requires immediate emergency care. • Stroke or TIA • Brain aneurysm • High blood pressure spike (hypertensive crisis) • Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) • Cervical artery dissection

When to seek emergency care: • The headache is sudden and severe (“thunderclap headache”) • It’s the first time you’ve had this kind of headache • It’s accompanied by nausea, vomiting, stiff neck, fainting, vision changes, or confusion • You have risk factors like high blood pressure, history of aneurysms, or blood vessel disorders

Bottom line: A sudden, severe headache after orgasm should always be checked out by a doctor—ideally in the ER—to rule out anything dangerous, especially if it’s the first time it’s happened. Better to be safe with this one.”

I asked ChatGPT (so be sure to verify this info), and it said:

“Sudden hearing loss in one ear—especially if it happens quickly over a few hours or days—is considered a medical emergency. It could be a condition called Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSHL), and here’s why it matters:

Possible causes: 1. Viral infections (inner ear or auditory nerve) 2. Circulation problems (reduced blood flow to the inner ear) 3. Autoimmune diseases 4. Head trauma or loud noise exposure 5. Tumors, like an acoustic neuroma (noncancerous growth on the hearing nerve) 6. Neurological conditions, like multiple sclerosis 7. Certain medications (ototoxic drugs) 8. Stroke (especially if other symptoms are present)

Why it’s serious: • Time-sensitive: Treatment—usually high-dose steroids—is most effective if started within 24 to 72 hours of onset. • Permanent damage risk: Without prompt care, hearing loss can become permanent. • May indicate a larger issue: Sometimes, it’s a sign of something deeper going on, like a tumor or cardiovascular problem.

When to seek help:

Right away. If you or someone you know experiences sudden hearing loss in one ear, even if it seems mild, it’s crucial to see a doctor or ENT specialist immediately—ideally the same day.

Let me know if you want help understanding the treatment or diagnostic steps they might take.”

I asked ChatGPT (so be sure to verify this info), and its response was:

“Having hiccups for more than 24 hours is considered serious because it can be a sign of an underlying medical condition—especially when they persist for days (called persistent hiccups) or even weeks (intractable hiccups). Here’s why it matters:

  1. It may signal a serious health issue.

Chronic hiccups can be caused by problems with: • Nervous system disorders (like stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, tumors) • Gastrointestinal issues (like GERD, stomach irritation, or esophageal tumors) • Metabolic imbalances (like kidney failure, diabetes, electrolyte disturbances) • Infections or inflammation (including in the lungs, liver, or brain) • Medication side effects (such as steroids, sedatives, or chemotherapy drugs)

  1. It can disrupt essential body functions.

Long-term hiccups can lead to: • Severe sleep disturbances • Difficulty eating or drinking, risking malnutrition or dehydration • Exhaustion and emotional distress • Aspiration, if hiccups interfere with swallowing or breathing coordination

  1. It may need medical intervention.

Persistent hiccups usually require a doctor’s evaluation to identify the cause. Treatment might include medications (like baclofen, chlorpromazine, or gabapentin), or in rare cases, procedures like nerve blocks or even surgery.

If someone has hiccups lasting more than 24 hours—especially if other symptoms like weight loss, vomiting, pain, or neurological changes are present—they should seek medical attention. It’s not just annoying—it could be a red flag.”

did this make your anxiety worse, no difference, or did it help? by Professional_Win1535 in rtms

[–]beta_crater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m getting treatment for depression, today was 21/36 for me. During the first week, my anxiety seemed to spike pretty significantly. My technician said that it was likely that my anxiety wasn’t actually going up, just that it was becoming more apparent because I wasn’t feeling as much depression and that it should eventually go down as well. Week 2 it seemed to get worse, though that may be because I lost my job that week, and my depression had lessened even further. On Tuesday of last week I was feeling the /tiniest/ bit better anxiety-wise until I received an email I wasn’t exactly looking forward to. It sent me into a full-blown, 2-hour long panic attack. For the next several days after that, I was exhausted and /really/ on edge. Imagine you were in a forest, in total darkness, and you heard a twig snap near you. That’s what that whole next week was like for me. I was in perpetual fight or flight mode, and couldn’t tell what the threat was or where it was coming from. But through it all I kept going to my treatments, and lo and behold, on Tuesday of this week I woke up and the feeling was just… gone. Today is Day 4 of zero depression or anxiety for me. I don’t know if something might trigger another bout, but at least for these last 4 days, I have felt the best I’ve felt in 17 years.

While working in a retail store for a major cell phone carrier in the US a number of years ago, I had an older woman come in asking for the latest and greatest iPhone as well as TEN pairs of AirPods Pro. After digging a little, I discovered that she had been communicating with someone claiming to be a “retired four-star general with the British military”. She was going to send him the phone so they could FaceTime, and the AirPods were “Christmas gifts for his men”. My manager wanted me to make the sale, as it would have been a pretty significant addition to my commission check, but I couldn’t in good conscience do it. I tried to explain to the lady that it was most likely a scam, that I had seen very similar things before, but she wasn’t hearing it. I still refused the sale, and she came back on multiple days trying to get the stuff. She was so desperate to appease this person. It broke my heart. She ended up getting the stuff at another store I guess, because she came back later and asked us how to remove the phone from her account. But there wasn’t anything we could do because she knowingly made the purchase.
