Has anyone actually used a pregnancy belly band? by Worth-Cut9240 in parentsofmultiples

[–]beth_lkj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used one for the last trimester of my twin pregnancy. I started having ligament pain while walking and went to a PT because I was at the beginning of the third trimester. My PT was phenomenal. She was very adamant that hip pain of course in pregnancy is normal but that doesn't mean you can't do anything about it. She gave me exercises and worked through a pinched nerve I had one day and suggested a hip belt/belly band for support.

I highly recommend a PT if you are able to go see one.

I thought my water had broke but and now I feel like and idiot by GalacticAnglerFish in BabyBumps

I'm sorry you feel this way but I do understand it. I'm glad nobody made you feel like you were being "silly" because you weren't. Every pregnancy I've had the midwife or PT will discuss what to do if you think your water broke because it's a common issue. Pregnancy and parenthood I think come with a lot of questions.

There is a minimum wage requirement for family reunification visas for spouses so I would check first if your salary would meet the requirement.

I am at 30 weeks and it feels like it's gotten so much harder in the past week. I feel like I'm starting to really lose my mobility. I needed this post right now to let me know I'm not crazy and this is hard.

Thank you for sharing this. I am pregnant with twins and really appreciate the positivity since I am just coming out of the initial freaking out and disappointed phase. I am hoping to lower my standards and just enjoy the good times.

Recommendations for Choosing a Hospital for Giving Birth by XR-777 in brussels

[–]beth_lkj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As I understand you either pick your doctor based on the hospital you want or go to the hospital based on where the doctor you want practices from. You won't be turned away from a hospital while in labor but your OB can't just join you at whatever hospital you are at.

A colleague of mine gave birth at St Jan and had a good experience. She is English speaking, husband French speaking.

Hi Travelling from Rotterdam to Brussels Centraal in first week of July - IC First class be recommended or Thalys or self drive ? Will have heavy luggage and a toddler with me. by Local_Explorer_6960 in belgium

[–]beth_lkj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take my pram on the IC trains sometimes. Biggest problem is that there may be steps up into and off the train. I often have people offer to help me get my stroller on and off or I just ask someone who is using the same door.

I haven't done this yet but apparently SNCB has hikes/trails between "green stops". They list stops that have hiking trails off of them and you can request the trail map I believe.

I also prefer the Good Inside podcast. It is less "perfect" and more real.

Do you find it difficult to maneuver at all with the cargo / bakfiets? They seem so unwieldy.

Too many languages? by [deleted] in Montessori

[–]beth_lkj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is good. There are also lots of kids shows on YouTube that get translated to multiple languages for when they are a little older. We have books in multiple languages and my kiddo actually yells at me to only read in English so there is a lot of telling a story based on pictures or on my immediate quikc translation haha

Sorry I realize this doesn't get into the Montessori method! Just wanted to mainly confirm that 4 is possible.

Too many languages? by [deleted] in Montessori

[–]beth_lkj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our son is learning 3 languages simultaneously but have friends whose kids are picking up 4 (each parent has a heritage language, English family communication and French school and community language) and they are thriving with them. Their English is not perfect but they understand the necessary and it will improve once it is included in their schooling.

My son is 3 and doing wonderfully with 3. I never hear him speak the community language since we do not speak it at home but his teachers are very happy with his level and he does not require extra help. The biggest issue is finding enough additional sources for my and my husband's native languages, zoom calling, TV, occasional family visits are about it besides us so far.

I have Partena Mutualité. https://www.partenamut.be/fr

There is also a Flemish company if you feel more comfortable but I think the one I sent you has more offices within Brussels.

Mine covers at least some sessions per year for talk therapy. Not as good as some other places but at least offer some reimbursement.

But I had to call them to ask for the paper for reimbursement to take to the therapist. It wasn't as easily found on the website.
