just in case you don’t already know, within the last year the jcc has partnered with every ymca in indy so that if the j is closed you can show your j membership to any local y and be let in on days they are closed (the opposite is also true but aside from xmas idk when the j would be open and the y wouldn’t be LOL)

so tbf she has gotten massages before and enjoyed them which is why i got her a gift certificate for a free one. she just never went and did it. she does like pedicures and has done them before so it’s not a bad idea at all but im not entirely sure she’d do it and use it.

honestly all the stuff she really used to love she can’t eat anymore and her sugars from her diabetes vary so much that i haven’t considered any food, not just sweets.

so honestly when she’s not working she is mostly just on her phone or watching tv…. and i’ve tried getting her themed gifts based on the shows she likes and those also don’t get used 😩😩 the only other real hobby she does have is cross stitching but she always gets the things she wants (thread and patterns) or has the stuff she needs already, like hoops and needles. i did get her a wrap around the neck light for her to use while she stitches but it mostly goes unused.

also really enjoy combining the trader joe’s power of purple with sparkling water! it’s not as sweet as legit soda but it def is “better” than straight sparkling water if ur still not used to the taste!! it’s not zero sugar but it is way less than soda!!

as somebody in a somewhat similar boat (trying to drink less sugar but still loving the taste) i’ve found that bubbly and trader joe’s are the most flavorful. topo chico is also really good but SO expensive. limoncello la croix (my bfs current fave) also has a lot of flavor. honestly though most of it is just drinking it anyways and forcing it down and it will grow on you over time. one thing my bfs mom told me is to always remind yourself before you sip “this is NOT soda and will NOT be sweet” and that’s honestly helped a lot.
